Role & responsibilities

1. OT Operations Management:

1. Ensure daily OT schedules and ensure optimal utilization of OT resources.

2. Facilitate smooth conduct of elective, emergency, and day-care surgeries.

3. Monitor OT workflow and minimize delays, cancellations, and rescheduling.

4. Ensure availability of OT staff, equipment, instruments, implants, and consumables before surgeries.

5. Ensure interdepartmental activities related to surgical services.

2. Surgery Scheduling & Coordination:

1. Prepare and circulate OT lists in consultation with surgeons and departments.

2. Coordinate with consultants, anesthetists, nursing staff, and admission teams regarding surgery schedules.

3. Ensure timely communication of changes in OT schedules.

4. Monitor OT turnaround time between surgeries and initiate corrective measures.

3. Resource & Inventory Management:

1. Monitor availability and utilization of OT consumables, surgical instruments, implants, and equipment.

2. Coordinate with CSSD for sterilized instrument sets and surgical packs.

Maintain inventory records and initiate procurement requests as required.

4. Prevent stock-outs and ensure proper storage practices.

4. Staff Deployment & Supervision:

1. Monitor deployment of OT nurses, technicians, and support staff.

2. Monitor attendance, duty rosters, leave management, and shift allocations.

3. Ensure adherence to OT discipline, skilled conduct, and grooming standards.

4. Facilitate staff training and competency development programs.

5. Infection Prevention & Patient Safety:

1. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic practices.

2. Monitor OT environmental cleanliness and coordinate with housekeeping services.

3. Ensure biomedical waste segregation and disposal as per statutory guidelines.

4. Participate in patient safety initiatives and quality improvement projects.

6. Equipment & Maintenance:

1. Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of OT equipment.
