Job Description – SMS Maintenance Head

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SMS Maintenance Head to lead the maintenance of the Steel Melting Shop (SMS). The role is responsible for ensuring maximum equipment availability, minimizing breakdowns, improving reliability, and leading the mechanical and electrical maintenance teams to support uninterrupted production.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead all preventive, predictive, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance activities for SMS.
- Ensure high equipment availability and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all critical equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve major mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation issues.
- Plan and execute annual and monthly maintenance shutdowns.
- Monitor equipment performance and implement reliability improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate with production teams to schedule maintenance with minimal impact on operations.
- Manage maintenance manpower,



contractors, and external service providers.
- Maintain critical spare parts inventory and coordinate with the purchase department for timely procurement.
- Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, equipment history, and breakdown analysis.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety, statutory, and environmental standards during all maintenance activities.
- Train and mentor maintenance engineers, supervisors, and technicians to improve technical capability and safety awareness.
- Monitor maintenance costs and drive initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce maintenance expenditure.

Requirements
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Metallurgical, or a related Engineering discipline.
- 5-10 years of experience in maintenance within a Steel Melting Shop (SMS) with at least 5
