C++/Embedded Software Engineer

Position Summary:

This role is a solid, individual contributor who works on Embedded systems (primarily Linux based) using Agile Scrum Methodology for software development and is directly responsible for many aspects of coding. The person will be working directly on physical hardware and will be part of a design team located in Richardson, TX.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibility but does require mentoring team engineers, and assisting in setting the technical direction for the division level teams.

Job Responsibilities:
- Plans projects prior to writing code.
- Use Agile Scrum Methodology for software development.
- Designs, writes and debugs code in Assembler, C, and C++
- Develops unit tests for all new code.
- Adequately comments all code.
- Has all code changes peer reviewed, and must peer review code when required.
- Provides input for documentation of current or existing programs.
- Performs technical research, monitors current trends and changes in technology.




- Interfaces with all departments within company.
- Demonstrates industry knowledge to assist in new product development.
- Develop Embedded Linux systems needed to support sales of hardware.
- Implement Linux components and drivers.
- Participate in the planning, development, and testing of applications.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
- This position requires a Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or related area, and two plus years related experience or equivalency.
- The preferred incumbent in this position must have a working knowledge of Embedded Linux.
- Must demonstrate the ability to program in C, and C++.
- Proficient in Linux tools including Eclipse, GDB, and the GNU toolset.
- Linux driver experience .
- Agile software development.
