Job Summary

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer with strong expertise in Python-based application development to build and enhance enterprise SaaS products for the US mortgage industry.

In this role, you will take ownership of designing and delivering scalable software solutions while providing technical leadership to a small engineering team. You will collaborate closely with Product, business analysts, and DevOps to build secure, high-performance applications and continuously improve our engineering practices.

This role is ideal for engineers who have demonstrated strong technical ownership and are ready to take the next step into technical leadership.

Role & responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python and related frameworks.
- Own the technical design and implementation of features from concept through production deployment.
- Lead code reviews, mentor engineers, and establish engineering best practices to improve code quality and team productivity.
- Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Design and develop RESTful APIs, microservices, background processing services, and database solutions.
- Optimize application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure high system reliability and scalability.
- Build and integrate cloud-native solutions using AWS services and modern DevOps practices.
- Contribute to AI-enabled capabilities, workflow automation, and platform modernization initiatives.




- Participate in architecture discussions, sprint planning, technical estimation, and release planning.
- Continuously improve platform architecture, development standards, and software quality.

Preferred candidate profile

- 4-6 years of hands-on software development experience, with strong expertise in Python.
- Proven ability to lead technical implementation, mentor developers, and drive engineering best practices.
- Hands-on experience with FastAPI, Django, or similar Python frameworks.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, asynchronous programming, distributed systems, and backend architecture.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL, including database design and query optimization.
- Experience with Redis, RabbitMQ/Celery, or similar messaging and background processing technologies.
- Experience developing and deploying applications on AWS, preferably with services such as RDS, S3, ECS, Lambda, or CloudWatch.
- Experience with Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices.
- Strong understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and clean architecture.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Experience

- Experience with Angular or other contemporary frontend frameworks.
- Exposure to AI/LLM technologies, Agentic AI, MCP, or workflow automation platforms.
- Experience with DynamoDB, Snowflake, data engineering, or analytics platforms.
- Experience in the US mortgage or financial services domain.
- Experience working with enterprise SaaS products serving multiple customers.
