Role & responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to lead a team responsible for a business-critical, high throughput microservices platform. The Engineering Lead will be responsible for leading the engineering team while remaining technically hands-on and accountable for the reliability and performance of the platform.

Candidate has to be willing to work in a platform support role and be on an on-call (PagerDuty) rotation to respond to high priority incidents.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor an offshore engineering team of approximately 7 engineers, providing technical leadership, coaching, and career development.
- Own the availability, reliability, scalability, and performance of the microservices platform.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and database technologies.
- Drive architecture and design decisions to ensure the platform can scale reliably during extreme peak-season traffic and order volumes.
- Lead high-severity production incidents and coordinate engineering, SRE,



infrastructure, database, and business teams during critical events.

Technical Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, JPA2, and Hibernate.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture, including service communication, asynchronous processing, concurrency, scalability, resiliency, and failure handling.
- Strong application and database debugging and performance optimization experience in large-scale production environments.
- Strong experience with Java performance profiling, including thread dumps, heap dumps, memory analysis, CPU profiling, garbage collection, deadlocks, and thread contention.
- Strong experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, or equivalent tools.
