Head - Procurement

Total Experience:15+Years (Required)

Work Location: Chennai

Title: Head - Procurement

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end procurement function for all construction projects.

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve cost, quality, and schedule objectives

. • Plan and execute procurement of civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, fire protection, elevators, IT, security systems, and other project-related packages.

• Prepare procurement schedules aligned with project timelines.

• Identify, evaluate, pre-qualify, and develop vendors and subcontractors.

• Float tenders, evaluate techno-commercial bids, negotiate commercial terms, and finalize contracts.

• Ensure timely procurement of materials and award of work packages without impacting project schedules.

• Monitor contract performance and resolve commercial issues during execution.

• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, statutory requirements, and ethical business practices.

• Work closely with project, design, engineering, planning, finance, and site teams to meet project objectives.

• Drive value engineering and cost optimization initiatives without compromising quality.

• Maintain procurement MIS, contract documentation, and vendor performance records.

Technical Expertise:

• Strong knowledge of construction materials, specifications, and market trends.

• Thorough understanding of civil construction materials including cement, steel, concrete, aggregates, finishes, waterproofing, doors, windows, glazing, flooring, roofing, and interior materials.

• Hands-on experience in procurement and contract finalization for: • Civil works

• Mechanical works

• Electrical works

• HVAC systems

• Plumbing and Fire Fighting systems • IT infrastructure and ELV systems





• Security and Building Management Systems (BMS)

• Interior fit-outs and specialized works

• Strong understanding of item-rate contracts, lump-sum contracts, turnkey contracts, rate agreements, and subcontract agreements.

• Ability to review technical specifications, BOQs, drawings, and commercial terms.

Contract Management:

• Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize construction contracts and purchase orders.

• Ensure proper allocation of contractual risks and obligations. • Manage contract amendments, variations, claims, and dispute resolution.

• Ensure contractual compliance throughout project execution. Desired Skills:

Preferred Candidate Profile:

• Proven track record of successfully leading procurement for multiple large-scale construction projects.

• Extensive network of suppliers, manufacturers, contractors, and subcontractors across construction disciplines.

• Ability to lead procurement teams and mentor junior professionals.

• Solid focus on timely delivery, cost control, quality assurance, and contract compliance.

• Willingness to travel to project locations as required. Requirements:

• Education:

Civil Engineering graduate (B.E./B. Tech in Civil Engineering preferred).

• Experience: 1518 years of relevant experience in construction procurement and contract management.

• Skills: Experience in handling procurement for large Institutional, commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects.
