Job Description – Driver (TPTD Operations)PositionDriver – TPTD Operations

- Employment BasisShift: 8 hours per shift
- Working Days: 6 days per week
- Weekly Off: Sunday, subject to operational requirements
- Work Location: TPTD premises / company premises
- Vehicle Running: Approximately 50–70 km per day within the company premises, depending on operational requirements.

Shift TimingsThe operation will run on a three-shift system:

1. ShiftDuty Timing1st Shift6:00 AM to 2:00 PM2nd Shift2:00 PM to 10:00 PM3rd Shift10:00 PM to 6:00 AMKey ResponsibilitiesThe driver must report for duty on time as per the assigned shift schedule.
2. The driver must report to the TPTD office daily before commencing duty.
3. The driver will operate the assigned company vehicle safely and responsibly within the company premises.
4. The driver must follow all TPTD/company safety rules, traffic regulations, instructions and operational procedures.
5. The driver is responsible for maintaining the vehicle in a clean and protected operating condition and must immediately report any breakdown, defect, damage or abnormal condition to the concerned supervisor.
6. The driver must carry a valid driving licence and any other documents required for operating the vehicle.
7. The driver must remain available on his own mobile phone during duty hours and should be reachable whenever required for operational purposes.
8. The driver must cooperate with supervisors and other authorised personnel and carry out assigned transportation duties as instructed.
9. The driver must not leave the vehicle or workplace during duty hours without prior permission from the concerned supervisor.

The driver must maintain proper discipline and professional behaviour while on duty.
11. The driver must not drive under the influence of alcohol or any intoxicating substance.
12. The driver must immediately inform the supervisor in case of any emergency, accident, vehicle breakdown or operational issue.

- Sunday / Weekly OffSunday will normally be the driver's weekly off.
- However, TPTD operations may continue on Sundays depending on barge unloading and other operational requirements.
- If the driver is required to work on Sunday due to operational requirements, he must report for duty as instructed.
- In such a case, the driver will be provided the weekly off/holiday on the next suitable day after completion of the barge unloading operation, as decided by the management and operational requirements.

Additional Duty in Case of Shift AbsenceIf the driver assigned to the 2:00 PM–10:00 PM (2nd shift) fails to report for duty:

- The driver from the 1st shift (6:00 AM–2:00 PM) may be required to continue duty for the additional 8-hour shift, subject to operational requirements and management instructions.
- For completing the additional 8-hour shift, the driver will be paid ₹750 as additional shift payment, over and above his regular duty payment.




- The additional duty must be recorded and approved by the concerned supervisor/authorised person.
- Attendance & PunctualityRegular attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of the job.
- The driver must report sufficiently before the start of his assigned shift to ensure a smooth handover/takeover of the vehicle.
- Repeated late reporting, unauthorised absence or leaving duty without permission may result in disciplinary action as per company rules.
- Mobile Phone RequirementThe driver must have his own working mobile phone.
- The driver's registered mobile number must remain active and reachable.
- The driver must keep the phone available during duty hours and respond promptly to calls from the supervisor/authorised TPTD personnel regarding operational requirements.
- Candidate RequirementsValid and appropriate driving licence.
- Relevant driving experience preferred.
- Good knowledge of vehicle operation and basic vehicle safety.
- Ability to work in a three-shift rotational operation.
- Willingness to work on Sundays/holidays when operational requirements demand.
- Physically and mentally fit to perform driving duties safely.
- Responsible, punctual and disciplined.

ImportantThe driver must understand that TPTD is an operational facility, and duty schedules may change according to barge unloading, vehicle movement and other operational requirements. Drivers are therefore expected to cooperate with reasonable shift changes, additional duty requirements and weekly-off adjustments as instructed by management.
