Job Title: Team Lead – US Payroll Location: Pune, India
Job Type: Full-Time
Experience Level: 5+ Years (with at least 2 years in a leadership role) Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Team Lead – US Payroll to manage and oversee end-to-end US payroll operations from our Pune office. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of US payroll processing, federal and state tax regulations, and payroll software systems. This role requires strong leadership and analytical skills to lead a team, ensure compliance, and deliver accurate payroll processing for our US-based employees. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage a team responsible for processing US payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state laws. Oversee bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll runs including salary calculations, deductions, benefits, and bonuses. Ensure compliance with all relevant US tax regulations including IRS guidelines, W-2, W-4, and 1099 filings. Serve as the primary point of contact for US-based clients and internal stakeholders regarding payroll matters. Utilize and manage payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Ceridian, SAP, or other enterprise platforms. Monitor payroll metrics, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions. Ensure data integrity and security of employee payroll information. Drive process improvement initiatives and automation to streamline payroll operations. Stay updated with changing US payroll legislation and implement necessary compliance measures. Provide training, mentorship,
and performance management to payroll team members. Coordinate with HR, finance, and compliance teams to ensure seamless payroll operations. (Optional but beneficial) Support understanding of Indian payroll practices if cross-functional support is needed. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field. 5+ years of US payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role. Strong understanding of US payroll laws, taxation (federal and state), and compliance requirements. Hands-on experience with payroll software such as ADP, Workday, Ceridian, or SAP. Excellent leadership and team management abilities. Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Robust analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple payrolls, meet deadlines, and manage priorities effectively. Familiarity with data privacy and employee data protection laws. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or other relevant payroll/HR certifications. Experience working in a BPO or shared services environment. Knowledge of Indian payroll and labor laws (optional but advantageous).
