1. Position Details

Position: Field Investigator

Project/Study: Exploring the Impact of Green Finance and Impact Investing on Sustainable Development: A Multi-Dimensional Analysis (With special reference to Delhi NCR)

Department/Institution: School of Commerce and Economics

Location: Faridabad, Haryana

Employment Type: Project-based

Duration: 2 months

Reporting To: Principal Investigator / Project Coordinator

2. Job Purpose

The Field Investigator will be responsible for collecting high-quality primary data from identified respondents/stakeholders for the research project. The investigator will conduct field visits, identify and approach eligible respondents, administer structured questionnaires/interview schedules, accurately record responses, maintain respondent confidentiality, and submit completed data and field reports within the prescribed timelines.

3. Key Responsibilities

- Conduct field visits to the assigned locations and institutions.
- Identify and approach respondents according to the sampling criteria provided by the research team.
- Explain the purpose of the study and obtain informed consent from respondents before data collection.
- Administer structured questionnaires, interview schedules, or other research instruments.
- Ensure that all questions are administered consistently and without influencing respondents answers.
- Record responses accurately and completely.
- Verify questionnaires immediately after completion to identify missing or inconsistent responses.
- Conduct follow-ups with respondents wherever necessary, as instructed by the Project Coordinator.
- Maintain daily records of respondents contacted, questionnaires completed, and field visits undertaken.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of respondent information and research data.
- Ensure that respondent identities and personal information are not disclosed to unauthorized persons.
- Report field-level difficulties, non-response, incomplete questionnaires, and other issues to the research supervisor.
- Assist in data verification, cleaning, coding, and preliminary organization of collected data, where required.
- Submit completed questionnaires/data files and fieldwork reports within the specified deadlines.
- Follow all ethical guidelines and instructions issued by the Principal Investigator/research team.
- Perform any other field-related research activities assigned by the Project Coordinator.

4. Eligibility and Qualifications





Essential Qualifications:

- Graduate degree in Social Sciences, Commerce, Management, Economics, Statistics, Education, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with diverse groups of respondents.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel/Google Sheets and digital data collection tools.
- Ability to travel to assigned field locations.

Desirable Qualifications:

- Previous experience in survey research, field investigation, market research, social research, or academic research.
- Experience in administering structured questionnaires or conducting interviews.
- Familiarity with Google Forms, KoboToolbox, SurveyMonkey, or similar data-collection platforms.
- Knowledge of the local language of the assigned field area.
- Previous experience working on university-funded, government-funded, or externally funded research projects.

5. Required Skills and Competencies

The candidate should demonstrate:

- Excellent communication and respondent-interaction skills.
- Ability to conduct structured interviews and surveys.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in recording information.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and research ethics.
- Good time-management and field-management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a research team.
- Problem-solving ability in field situations.
- Basic computer and digital data-entry skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned geographical area.
- Qualified and respectful behaviour toward all respondents.

6. Fieldwork Responsibilities

The Field Investigator may be required to:

1. Attend training/orientation sessions conducted by the research team.
2. Understand the research objectives, sampling procedure, questionnaire, and respondent eligibility criteria.
3. Undertake field visits according to the approved fieldwork schedule.
4. Contact eligible respondents through approved channels.
5. Explain respondent rights and obtain informed consent.
6. Administer the questionnaire/interview schedule.
7. Ensure that every response is entered correctly.
8.



Check completed schedules for completeness.
9. Maintain a field diary/progress sheet.
10. Immediately report any ethical, logistical, or respondent-related concerns to the supervisor.

7. Data Quality and Ethical Responsibilities

The Field Investigator must:

- Never fabricate, modify, or manipulate respondent responses.
- Never complete questionnaires on behalf of respondents unless specifically permitted by the research protocol.
- Avoid leading or influencing respondents.
- Maintain respondent anonymity/confidentiality as prescribed by the research protocol.
- Keep all research materials and collected information secure.
- Use collected information strictly for the approved research purpose.
- Follow informed-consent procedures and institutional research-ethics requirements.
- Report any suspected data-quality issue or deviation from the research protocol immediately.

8. Performance Indicators

Performance will be assessed based on:

- Number of eligible respondents successfully contacted.
- Number of valid and completed questionnaires collected.
- Accuracy and completeness of collected data.
- Adherence to the approved sampling plan.
- Timely submission of field data and reports.
- Compliance with research ethics and confidentiality requirements.
- Quality of respondent interaction.
- Reliability and professionalism during fieldwork.

9. Remuneration

Remuneration: ₹ 7500/- per month for a completed, valid questionnaire, as applicable, including travelling charges.

10. Duration of Engagement

The engagement will be purely project-based and will remain valid for 2 months, subject to satisfactory performance and the requirements of the research project.

11. Reporting

The Field Investigator will report directly to the Principal Investigator/Project Coordinator and will submit periodic fieldwork progress reports in the prescribed format.
