To provide comprehensive assessment, therapeutic intervention, family support, capacity building, and rehabilitation services for Children with Special Needs (CwSN), while promoting inclusive education, strengthening community participation, and ensuring quality programme implementation, documentation, and stakeholder coordination.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Assessment, Therapy & Child Development

- Conduct enrolment, screening, baseline and end-line assessments (SFA), and develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned CwSN.

- Plan and provide individualized therapy interventions based on each child's functional needs.

- Conduct regular home visits and monitor implementation of home programmes by caregivers.

- Monitor child progress, review therapy goals, and ensure functional improvement through evidence-based interventions.

- Conduct BMI and Assistive & Adaptive Technology (AAT) assessments, facilitate assistive device distribution, and monitor utilization.

- Prevent secondary complications through appropriate therapeutic interventions and caregiver guidance.

Health Support & Parent Empowerment

- Conduct parent and caregiver training on therapy techniques, positioning, feeding, mobility, activities of daily living, and home-based rehabilitation.

- Establish and facilitate Parent/Mothers' Committees and encourage active community participation.

- Organize medical camps and facilitate referrals to health and rehabilitation services.

- Support eligible children in accessing medical allowance, supplementary nutrition, disability benefits, and referral services.

- Develop partnerships with hospitals, NGOs, colleges, and rehabilitation service providers.

Capacity Building & Inclusive Education

- Conduct disability awareness and sensitization programmes for schools and communities.

- Train teachers, BIERT members, education officials, SDMC members, parents, caregivers, and community volunteers on inclusive education and rehabilitation.

- Mentor Mothers' Champions and frontline staff to strengthen community-based rehabilitation.

- Support implementation of Community Aid Courses and stakeholder certification.

- Conduct pre- and post-training assessments and monitor learning outcomes.

School Resource Centre (SRC) Strengthening & Accessibility





- Strengthen School Resource Centers by ensuring regular therapy sessions and availability of therapy materials and assistive devices.

- Conduct accessibility audits and facilitate barrier-free improvements in schools.

- Promote enrolment, retention, and participation of CwSN in school and community activities.

Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain complete child files, therapy records, assessment reports, referral documentation, and intervention plans.

- Ensure timely and accurate data entry into program MIS and reporting systems.

- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports.

- Develop case studies, IEC materials, Community Aid Course modules, tracking sheets, and monitoring tools.

- Participate in planning, review, donor reporting, monitoring visits, and program evaluations.

Coordination & Stakeholder Management

- Coordinate with education departments, health departments, BIERT, CRPs, schools, Anganwadi Centers, hospitals, NGOs, and community stakeholders.

- Represent the program in meetings, trainings, awareness campaigns, and community events.

- Support implementation of program activities in accordance with organizational standards, donor commitments, and government guidelines.

Other Responsibilities

- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safeguarding standards, and program quality requirements.

- Perform any other duties assigned by the Reporting Manager in support of program objectives.

Requirements

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Physiotherapy (BPT/MPT)

Experience

- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in paediatric rehabilitation, disability rehabilitation, inclusive education, or community-based rehabilitation program.

- Experience working with Children with Special Needs (CwSN) in school and community settings.

- Experience in conducting assessments, therapy planning, and multidisciplinary rehabilitation interventions.





- Experience working with government departments, NGOs, and donor-funded program is desirable.

Technical Knowledge

- Knowledge of child development, disability management, and inclusive education practices.

- Understanding of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), School Function Assessment (SFA), and rehabilitation planning.

- Familiarity with assistive technology, accessibility, and community-based rehabilitation approaches.

- Knowledge of government disability schemes, referral systems, and rehabilitation services.

Skills and Competencies

- Strong assessment and therapeutic intervention skills.

- Excellent communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to conduct training and facilitate capacity-building programs.

- Strong documentation, report writing, and case management skills.

- Good planning, coordination, and stakeholder management abilities.

- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MIS/data management systems.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.

- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.

Other Requirements

- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned block/district.

- Ability to conduct school visits, home visits, community meetings, and field-based rehabilitation activities.

- Commitment to child safeguarding, inclusion, equity, and organizational values.

- Fluency in Kannada and English; knowledge of additional local languages is an added advantage.
