Senior Chemist / Group Leader – Food Testing

Role Overview:

n

The Senior Chemist / Group Leader will lead analytical operations in the Food Testing laboratory, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The role requires strong expertise in HPLC-based analysis , food chemistry, and method validation within a NABL accredited setting.

Key Responsibilities:

n

n
- Lead and supervise day-to-day operations of the Food (EFRAC) laboratory
n
- Perform and oversee analysis of various food and water samples using standard methods such as BIS, FSSAI Lab Manual, FCC, AOAC, and internal laboratory methods
n
- Conduct analysis of milk, oil, and fat samples as per FSSAI Lab Manual, AOAC, and IS methods
n
- Perform Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) analysis (AOAC 996.06)
n
- Execute and supervise HPLC analysis for food parameters including additives, preservatives, vitamins, and contaminants
n
- Develop, validate, and verify analytical methods as per ISO/IEC 17025 and NABL guidelines
n
- Review, interpret, and approve analytical data and reports
n

n

n

Instrumentation & Technical Expertise:

n

n
- Hands-on experience with:
n
- HPLC (mandatory)
n
- GC-FID (e.g., Shimadzu 2010 Plus)
n
- UV-Visible Spectrophotometer (e.g., Agilent)
n
- Viscometer (Brookfield)
n
- Density Meter
n
- Refractometer
n
- Tintometer
n
- Responsible for instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
n

n

Documentation & Compliance:

n

n
- Ensure analytical raw data recording and integrity
n
- Maintain documentation in compliance with NABL and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
n
- Prepare SOPs, test methods,



and validation protocols
n
- Handle NABL audits , internal audits, and regulatory inspections
n

n

n

Team & Operations Management:

n

n
- Lead, train, and mentor chemists and lab analysts
n
- Manage sample workflow, turnaround time (TAT), and reporting timelines
n
- Ensure adherence to GLP, safety, and quality systems
n

n

n

Required Qualifications:

n

n
- Graduation or Similar Qualifications in Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry / Food Technology
n
- 6–10+ years of experience in food testing laboratories
n
- Strong hands-on experience with HPLC (mandatory)
n

n

n

Required Skills:

n

n
- Expertise in food analysis methods (BIS, FSSAI, AOAC, FCC)
n
- Strong knowledge of chromatography techniques (HPLC & GC)
n
- Experience in FAME analysis and food composition testing
n
- Familiarity with NABL accreditation and ISO/IEC 17025
n
- Strong documentation, audit handling, and data interpretation skills
n
- Leadership and team management ability
n

Preferred Experience:

n

- Experience in EFRAC / residue / contaminant analysis
n
- Exposure to LIMS systems
n
- Audit-facing experience in NABL accredited la
n
