Must have skills : Automotive Functional Safety & Security
Good to have skills : NA
Minimum 12 year(s) of experience is required
Educational Qualification : 15 years full time education
Summary
We are seeking a Functional Safety Domain SME to define and govern ISO 26262-aligned validation coverage on dedicated FuSa benches. This role is responsible for translating functional safety requirements into bench-based validation scenarios, ensuring traceability across the safety lifecycle, and reviewing AI-assisted coverage and anomaly-detection outputs for safety-relevant relevance and correctness.
Roles & Responsibilities
-Derive FuSa bench test scope and ASIL-compliant test cases with objective pass/fail criteria from HARA outputs, the Functional Safety Concept (FSC), and the Technical Safety Concept (TSC), aligned to ISO 26262 Part 4 (system) and -Part 8 11 (confidence in software tools/TCL).
-Identify safety mechanisms (monitoring, redundancy, plausibility checks) and design corresponding fault-injection test scenarios use FMEA/FTA outputs to inform test scope and defect root cause analysis.
-Review and approve bench configurations for FuSa validation benches, ensuring safety-relevant fault injection and failure-mode coverage.
-Own requirements-to-test traceability for safety requirements in Jama Connect and TestRail.
-Support coverage-gap analysis and improvement planning for the FuSa domain, including audit-ready evidence packages and safety confirmation measures (independence, review records).
-Review AI-assisted failure detection and coverage-gap recommendations for safety validity before they are actioned by the test execution team.
-Support defect triage and root cause analysis for safety-relevant findings classify defect severity by linking it to ASIL and safety-goal violation.
-Participate in monthly governance reviews to report FuSa coverage improvement and residual risk.
Professional & Technical Skills
-10+ years of experience in automotive functional safety engineering/validation, with hands-on ISO 26262 lifecycle experience across Parts 1–8, with particular depth in Part 4 (System), Part 5 (Hardware), and Part 6 (Software).
-Expert-level ability to work with ASIL classification (A–D) and ASIL decomposition, and to translate that classification into test rigour and evidence obligations.
-Expert-level ability to derive safety goals and test implications from HARA (Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment), and to interpret the Functional Safety Concept (FSC) and Technical Safety Concept (TSC) to define bench test scope.
-Experience using FMEA and FTA both to define test scope for safety mechanisms and to support defect root cause analysis.
-Ability to identify and design test cases for safety mechanisms — monitoring, redundancy, and plausibility checks — with objective pass/fail criteria.
-Strong knowledge of ASPICE (SWE.4–SWE.6, SUP.9/SUP.10, VAL.1) and its interface with the functional safety lifecycle, including confirmation measures (independence, review records, audit evidence).
-Experience with HIL/SIL bench-based safety validation and fault injection techniques for safety mechanism validation.
-Working knowledge of ISO 21448 (SOTIF) is a plus.
-Distinct, hands-on toolchain fluency: Jama Connect for safety requirements and traceability, TestRail for FuSa test case and execution management, dSPACE ControlDesk/AutomationDesk for FuSa HIL execution, CAPL (CANoe) for FuSa network stimulation scripting, and INCA/CANape for ECU internal variable access during safety measurement.
-Ability to critically review AI-assisted anomaly/coverage outputs against safety-engineering judgment.
-Strong documentation skills for client-facing safety evidence and audit packages, including contribution to the safety case by linking test evidence to safety goals.
Additional Information
-Minimum 12+ years of experience in Automotive Functional Safety Engineering.
-This position is based at our Bengaluru/Pune office (offshore, supporting a US-based onsite counterpart team).
-Bachelor's/Master's degree in Engineering, Electronics, or Electrical is required.
-ISO 26262 Functional Safety certification (e.g., T V) preferred.
