Role & responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive medical management to critically ill and high-dependency patients admitted to the ICU.
- Conduct regular ICU rounds and assess patients' clinical condition, treatment response, and ongoing care requirements.
- Manage patients requiring invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
- Initiate, monitor, and adjust ventilator settings according to patient condition.
- Manage critically ill patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, shock, multi-organ dysfunction, and other life-threatening conditions.
- Monitor and manage hemodynamic status, including blood pressure, fluid balance, vasopressor/inotropic support, and other critical parameters.
- Perform and supervise critical-care procedures such as central venous access, arterial line placement, airway management, intubation, and other ICU procedures as per competency.
- Respond promptly to Code Blue, cardiac arrest, acute deterioration, and other medical emergencies within the hospital.
- Lead or participate in CPR/ACLS and emergency resuscitation as required.
- Coordinate with specialists and treating consultants for multidisciplinary management of ICU patients.
- Review laboratory investigations, ABG, imaging, microbiology reports, and other diagnostic findings for appropriate clinical decision-making.
- Ensure appropriate use of antibiotics, fluids, blood products, sedation, analgesia, anticoagulation, and other critical-care medications.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of patient assessment, treatment plans, procedures,



and clinical progress.
- Communicate effectively with patients' relatives regarding clinical condition, treatment plans, prognosis, and major changes in patient status, as appropriate.
- Ensure adherence to ICU protocols, infection-control practices, patient-safety standards, and hospital policies.
- Participate in developing and implementing ICU protocols, SOPs, clinical pathways, and quality-improvement initiatives.
- Monitor ICU patients for complications and ensure timely escalation of care when required.
- Supervise and guide ICU nursing and support staff regarding critical-care practices.
- Participate in clinical audits, mortality/morbidity reviews, case discussions, and academic activities.
- Ensure appropriate utilization of ICU resources, equipment, and critical-care facilities.
- Maintain qualified, ethical, and regulatory standards in all clinical activities.

Qualification

- MBBS with MD/DNB/DA in Anaesthesiology from a recognized institution.
- Additional qualification/fellowship in Critical Care Medicine will be an advantage.
- Valid registration with the State Medical Council, as applicable.

Experience

- Relevant experience in ICU/Critical Care.
- Experience in managing mechanically ventilated and critically ill patients will be an added advantage.
- Candidates with experience in a multispecialty hospital/tertiary-care ICU will be preferred.

Employment Type: Full-Time Reporting To: Medical Director / Head Critical Care.
