Job Description
The Head – EHS will provide strategic leadership and governance for Environment, Health & Safety across multiple API manufacturing facilities. The role is responsible for developing and implementing world-class EHS systems, ensuring compliance with national and international regulations, fostering a strong safety culture, driving sustainability initiatives, and achieving zero harm while supporting business continuity and operational excellence.

The incumbent will partner with Operations, Engineering, Projects, Quality, HR, and Regulatory teams to ensure secure manufacturing practices, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance across all manufacturing locations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
n
n
- Develop and execute the organization's EHS strategy aligned with business objectives.
n
- Lead and standardize EHS practices across multiple API manufacturing plants.
n
- Establish annual EHS goals, KPIs, and improvement roadmaps.
n
- Drive a "Zero Harm" safety culture throughout the organization.
n
- Lead ESG and sustainability initiatives related to manufacturing operations.
n

Health & Safety Management
n
n
- Ensure implementation and continual improvement of Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems (ISO 45001).
n
- Develop safety policies, SOPs, standards, and corporate EHS guidelines.
n
- Monitor compliance with statutory safety requirements.
n
- Lead hazard identification, HAZOP, HIRA, JSA, and risk assessments.
n
- Implement Process Safety Management (PSM) programs for hazardous chemical manufacturing.
n
- Ensure safe handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
n

Process Safety Management (PSM)
n
n
- Lead implementation of Process Safety Management programs.
n
- Review process safety during plant design and technology transfer.
n
- Conduct Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), HAZOP, LOPA, and What-if studies.

- Monitor critical safety systems including:

Educational Qualification
n
n
- B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent.
n
- Diploma/PG Diploma in Industrial Safety (Mandatory).
n
- M.Tech/M.E. in Safety or Environmental Engineering (Preferred).
n
- NEBOSH IGC/Diploma or equivalent international certification (Preferred).
n
n
Experience
n
n
- 18–25 years of experience in EHS within the Pharmaceutical API, Specialty Chemicals, Fine Chemicals, or Chemical Manufacturing industry.
n
- Minimum 8–10 years in a leadership role managing EHS across multiple manufacturing sites.
n
- Experience handling highly hazardous chemical processes, solvent recovery, utilities, and large-scale API manufacturing.
n
- Proven experience in regulatory inspections, process safety management, and sustainability initiatives.
