Overview of the Role
Greaves Electric Mobility is at the forefront of India’s rapidly evolving electric mobility landscape, driving innovation across electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and last-mile mobility solutions .
As the Head – Procurement, Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain , you will provide end-to-end leadership for building a resilient, agile, cost-competitive and scalable supply chain ecosystem that can support GEML’s growth ambitions, product launches, manufacturing footprint, localization strategy and evolving EV portfolio.
This is a mission-critical leadership role with ownership spanning strategic procurement, sourcing, supplier development, material planning, supply assurance, inventory, logistics, warehousing, cost optimization and supply chain transformation .
The role will be responsible for establishing an integrated Source-to-Plan-to-Make-to-Deliver ecosystem, ensuring the right material is available at the right cost, quality, quantity and time while continuously improving cash conversion, inventory turns, service levels and total landed cost .
Core Technical Responsibilities
1. Procurement & Strategic Sourcing
- Develop 3–5 year procurement and supply-chain strategy aligned to business, product and manufacturing plans.
- Lead category strategies across Battery Cells/Packs, BMS, Motors, Controllers, Power Electronics, Semiconductors, Wiring Harnesses, Chassis, Plastics, Tyres, Brakes, Suspension, Castings, Forgings and Machined Components .
- Own RFQ, supplier evaluation, benchmarking, negotiations, nomination and contracting.
- Drive TCO, should-costing, commodity benchmarking, localization and supplier competition .
2. Supply & Material Planning / S&OP;
- Establish integrated S&OP; / IBP, MRP and MPS processes linking demand, production, procurement and supplier capacity.
- Translate demand forecasts into material, capacity and procurement requirements.
- Improve forecast accuracy, planning adherence and responsiveness to demand volatility, engineering changes and product ramp-ups.
3. Supplier Capacity & Supply Assurance
- Own capacity planning for strategic and critical suppliers.
- Assess supplier capacity, tooling, technology, manpower and financial capability.
- Identify single-source, long-lead and capacity-constrained components and establish mitigation plans.
- Drive alternate sourcing, capacity expansion and localization.
4. Supplier Development & Performance
- Build a resilient domestic and global supplier ecosystem for EV-critical components.
- Establish supplier segmentation and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) .
- Partner with Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing on supplier capability development.
- Drive supplier performance across QCD, capacity, responsiveness and technology .
5. Cost Leadership, VA/VE & Localization
- Deliver sustainable year-on-year cost reduction through:
- Should-costing
- VA/VE
- Design-to-Cost
- Localization
- Commodity benchmarking
- Supplier productivity
- Cost-breakdown analysis
- Volume leverage
- Engage Engineering and R&D; through Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) to optimize specifications, materials, processes and component architecture.
6. Inventory & Working Capital
- Own inventory strategy across RM, bought-out components, WIP and FG .
- Establish inventory norms based on demand variability, lead times, supplier risk and service requirements.
- Improve inventory turns, DIO, excess/obsolete inventory and working capital .
- Balance material availability with cash-conversion objectives.
7. Logistics & Warehousing
- Optimize inbound logistics, inter-plant movement, warehousing and material flow.
- Drive freight, route and logistics-partner optimization to reduce total landed cost .
- Improve warehouse productivity, inventory accuracy, space utilization and line-side material availability.
- Evaluate milk runs, consolidation, cross-docking and route optimization .
8. Supply Chain Risk & Business Continuity
- Establish supply-chain risk monitoring across supplier financial health, capacity, commodities, imports, semiconductors, battery cells, logistics and geopolitical dependencies .
- Develop BCPs, alternate sources, strategic buffers and contingency logistics for critical components.
- Establish early-warning and escalation mechanisms.
9. New Product Introduction & Launch Readiness
- Integrate Procurement and Supply Chain into NPD from concept through SOP.
- Own supplier readiness covering sourcing, tooling, capacity, localization and material readiness .
- Partner on APQP, PPAP, tooling readiness, capacity validation, run-at-rate and SOP readiness .
- Establish structured launch-readiness reviews for critical suppliers and components.
10. Procurement Governance & Digital Transformation
- Strengthen procurement policies, commercial governance, delegation matrices, contracts and compliance.
- Drive e-sourcing, digital procurement, spend analytics, supplier portals and supply-chain analytics .
- Build real-time visibility of spend, supplier performance, inventory, demand, supply, logistics, commodities and working capital .
11. Cross-Functional & Organizational Leadership
- Partner closely with Business/P&L;, R&D;, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Sales/Demand Planning, Aftermarket, IT, Legal and Compliance .
- Position Procurement & Supply Chain as a strategic business function , not a transactional support function.
- Build and lead high-performing teams across Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Development, Material/Supply Planning, Inventory, Logistics and Supply Chain Analytics .
- Establish strong governance, accountability, succession planning and future-ready capability.
Experience
- 18–25 years of progressive experience across Procurement, Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain Management .
- Strong experience in Automotive / EV / Auto Components / Discrete Manufacturing .
- Demonstrated experience managing a large and complex procurement and supply chain spend portfolio .
- Proven track record of leading end-to-end supply chain transformation across sourcing, planning, inventory and logistics.
- Experience managing large supplier ecosystems across domestic and international markets.
- Strong exposure to EV ecosystem sourcing , particularly Battery, Electronics, Powertrain and Semiconductors, will be highly advantageous.
- Experience supporting high-growth businesses, new product launches, manufacturing ramp-ups and localization programs .
- Exposure to multi-plant and multi-location supply chain operations is preferred.
