A leading multidisciplinary university in India is seeking an accomplished academic leader to head its Humanities Division as Dean Humanities .

The Dean will provide strategic and academic leadership to drive academic excellence, research growth, faculty development, student outcomes and the overall growth and reputation of the Humanities Division . The role will also focus on developing a future-oriented Humanities portfolio aligned with evolving societal needs, global academic trends and interdisciplinary opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide strategic and academic leadership across departments within the Humanities Division.
n
- Develop and execute a multi-year growth strategy covering academic programmes, faculty, research, student outcomes and institutional reputation .
n
- Strengthen the academic portfolio through recent programmes, specialisations, interdisciplinary offerings and industry-/society-relevant courses.
n
- Drive curriculum modernisation, innovative pedagogy, experiential learning and integration of emerging areas within Humanities.
n
- Build a strong research culture and drive high-quality publications, citations, books, funded research and scholarly collaborations.
n
- Develop partnerships with leading universities, research institutions, think tanks, cultural institutions, industry, government and other external organisations.
n
- Lead academic quality, accreditation, rankings and benchmarking initiatives.
n




- Build and develop a high-performing faculty through recruitment, mentoring, professional development and succession planning.
n
- Enhance student learning outcomes, employability, experiential learning and overall academic experience.
n
- Strengthen the Division’s national and international reputation through academic partnerships, thought leadership and external engagement.
n
- Oversee resources, budgets, governance and operational performance while contributing to university-wide academic strategy.

Candidate Profile

n

n
- PhD in a relevant Humanities discipline from a reputed institution.
n
- 15+ years of academic experience , including significant academic leadership and administration experience.
n
- Prior experience as Dean, Head of Department, Director or equivalent senior academic leader preferred.
n
- Strong record of excellence in teaching, research, academic administration and institutional development .
n
- Demonstrated scholarly publications, research collaborations and preferably externally funded research.
n
- Experience in academic quality assurance, accreditation, rankings and institutional benchmarking.
n
- Strong ability to build academic partnerships and engage with diverse external stakeholders.
n
- Excellent strategic, interpersonal, communication and people-leadership capabilities.
n
- Ability to operate effectively in a complex, multidisciplinary university environment and translate institutional strategy into measurable outcomes.
