Job Description
Job Title- Manager – Founder’s Office New Initiatives & Growth
n
Location - Netaji Subhash Place
n
Experience - 4-8 years
n
About MARS Cosmetics-
n
MARS Cosmetics is a fast-growing beauty brand built around a easy belief: high-quality makeup should be accessible to everyone. With a strong presence across e-commerce, quick commerce, modern trade and offline retail, MARS is entering its next phase of growth—expanding into new categories, channels, markets and business opportunities.
n
The Role-
n
We are looking for a high-ownership business builder to join the Founder’s Office and lead new initiatives and strategic growth projects.
n
This is not a conventional strategy or marketing role. You will work directly with the founders to identify growth opportunities, validate new ideas and convert promising opportunities into scalable businesses.
n
The role combines strategy, analytics and hands-on execution. You may be evaluating a new category one month, launching a channel pilot the next, and building the operating plan for a new market after that.
n
Key Responsibilities-
n
Identify new growth opportunities
n
n
1. Identify attractive opportunities across new categories, channels, customer segments, geographies and business models.
n
2. Study consumer behaviour, market trends, competitors and emerging beauty formats.
n
3. Develop clear business cases covering market potential, consumer proposition, economics, investment requirements and execution risks.
n
4. Prioritise opportunities based on strategic fit, commercial potential and ability to win.
n
n
Build and launch recent initiatives
n
n
1. Convert selected ideas into structured pilot plans with clear objectives, timelines and success metrics.
n
2. Lead pilots from concept to execution, coordinating with product, marketing, sales, e-commerce, retail, supply chain and finance.
n
3. Test demand, pricing, assortment, positioning and channel strategy before committing significant resources.
n
4. Scale successful pilots into repeatable business models and close initiatives that do not demonstrate sufficient potential.
n
n
Drive strategic growth projects
n
n
1.
Lead high-priority projects across D2C, marketplaces, quick commerce, offline retail, Tier II/III expansion, international markets and strategic partnerships.
n
2. Diagnose business problems using data and translate findings into actionable growth plans.
n
3. Identify opportunities to improve revenue, gross margin, contribution margin, inventory productivity and customer retention.
n
4. Establish operating rhythms and dashboards for strategically important initiatives.
n
n
Support founder-level decision-making
n
n
1. Prepare concise, decision-oriented analyses and recommendations for the founders.
n
2. Create annual plans, business reviews, market-entry strategies and investment proposals.
n
3. Track major company initiatives and proactively resolve execution bottlenecks.
n
4. Work with functional leaders while maintaining clear ownership and accountability.
n
n
Build external partnerships
n
n
1. Identify and evaluate potential channel, distribution, technology, licensing and brand partnerships.
n
2. Support commercial negotiations and partnership structuring.
n
3. Build relationships across the beauty, consumer, retail and startup ecosystems.
n
n
What Success Looks Like
n
During the first 12 months, the successful candidate will:
n
n
1. Build a prioritised pipeline of credible growth opportunities.
n
2. Launch multiple structured pilots with clearly defined economics and success criteria.
n
3. Scale at least one new initiative into a meaningful revenue opportunity.
n
4. Improve the speed and quality of founder-level decision-making.
n
5. Create strong cross-functional ownership around strategic initiatives.
n
6. Demonstrate measurable impact on revenue, profitability or business capability.
n
n
Ideal Candidate
n
n
1.
Approximately 4–8 years of experience in a founder’s office, business operations, category management, growth, strategy consulting or new-business role.
n
2. Experience in a high-growth consumer, D2C, beauty, personal-care, retail or e-commerce company is strongly preferred.
n
3. Evidence of having launched or scaled a category, channel, geography, product line or new business.
n
4. Strong understanding of business economics, including revenue, gross margin, contribution margin, customer acquisition, inventory and working capital.
n
5. Comfortable moving between spreadsheets, consumer insights, business plans, partner conversations and ground-level execution.
n
6. Strong analytical, problem-solving and project-management capabilities.
n
7. Clear written and verbal communication, with an ability to simplify complex decisions.
n
8. High ownership, pace, curiosity and comfort with ambiguity.
n
9. Able to influence senior stakeholders without relying on formal authority.
n
10. Bachelor’s degree required; MBA from a leading institution is preferred but not essential.
n
n
The Person We Are Looking For
n
You are likely to thrive in this role if you:
n
n
1. Think like an entrepreneur and execute like an operator.
n
2. Enjoy building from a blank sheet rather than managing only established processes.
n
3. Ask difficult commercial questions before recommending investment.
n
4. Are willing to test ideas quickly, learn from the market and change direction when needed.
n
5. Care about profitable, sustainable growth—not vanity metrics.
n
6. Can zoom out to understand strategy and zoom in to solve execution details.
n
7. Want your work to have a visible and measurable impact on the company.
n
n
Why Join MARS?
n
n
1. Work directly with the founders on the company’s most important growth opportunities.
n
2. Build new businesses and capabilities within one of India’s fast-growing beauty brands.
n
3. Gain exposure across product, brand, commerce, retail, supply chain and international expansion.
n
4. Take meaningful ownership without layers of bureaucracy.
