Position: System Administrator DB2 for z/OS

As a System Administrator, you will solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across a wide range of platforms and services. You will work with large enterprise clients, managing systems, providing day-to-day solutions, ensuring security compliance, and supporting technology modernization.

You will manage a queue of assignments, work closely with technical teams, prioritize incidents and requests, and deliver effective solutions to meet client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade DB2 subsystems on z/OS.
- Plan and execute DB2 version migrations, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
- Configure and manage DB2 data sharing environments.
- Manage DB2 infrastructure availability, resiliency, and disaster recovery.
- Perform DB2 performance tuning and optimize subsystem performance and resource consumption.
- Support application teams during major incidents, performance issues, and problem determination.
- Define and maintain standards for DB2 utilities, backup, recovery, and capacity planning.
- Perform database utilities activities including REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, and RECOVER.
- Integrate DB2 with z/OS, CICS, IMS, MQ, RACF, and enterprise storage platforms.
- Perform SMF/RMF analysis and troubleshoot DB2 and z/OS-related issues.
- Participate in change and release management processes within enterprise environments.
- Support vulnerability management and security compliance activities.
- Collaborate with technical teams, application teams, stakeholders, and clients to deliver reliable solutions.
- Identify modernization opportunities and recommend improvements to existing infrastructure and processes.
- Support high-availability, disaster recovery, and mission-critical enterprise environments.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise




- Strong experience in DB2 for z/OS Administration, including installation, configuration, data sharing, and SMP/E maintenance.
- Strong expertise in DB2 performance tuning, buffer pool optimization, SQL diagnostics, and database utilities such as REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, and RECOVER.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning, z/OS internals, SMF/RMF analysis, and problem determination.
- Knowledge of enterprise change and release management processes.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019.
- Experience with VMware ESX.
- Experience with public/private cloud management and cloud migration activities.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong documentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working in mission-critical enterprise environments.

Preferred Technical and Skilled Experience
- IBM Certified Database Administrator – Db2 for z/OS certification.
- Experience with IBM Db2 Tools, OMEGAMON, BMC MainView, or CA Database Management solutions.
- Knowledge of automation tools such as REXX, CLIST, and Ansible.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with z/OSMF and IBM Z technologies.
- Knowledge of Parallel Sysplex, GDPS, and high-availability solutions.
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and ADFS.
- Experience with vulnerability management.
