Supervisor - Technical Accounting

The RSM US Offices in India (USI) supports RSM U.S. risk consulting, transaction advisory, technical accounting, financial consulting, technology and management consulting, tax and assurance engagement teams by providing access to highly skilled professionals for repeatable business processes over an extended business day.
RSM is seeking a Supervisor to join its Technical Accounting Consulting (TAC) team. In a business environment shaped by evolving accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and capital-market activity, RSM helps clients address complex accounting and financial reporting matters. Our clients span a range of industries, including financial services, technology, life sciences, manufacturing, and other commercial sectors.
The Supervisor will serve as a day-to-day workstream leader within the TAC practice, working under the direction of Managers and Directors and collaborating closely with U.S. engagement teams. The role includes supervising Associates and Senior Associates, reviewing technical analyses and deliverables, coordinating project activities, and supporting client engagements involving complex financial instruments, business combinations, implementation of new accounting standards, capital-market readiness, and audit readiness.
Qualification and Minimum Requirements
- Chartered Accountant/ACCA/CPA with at least four years of relevant experience in technical accounting, accounting advisory, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP ; familiarity with SEC reporting requirements is preferred.
- Experience researching and applying accounting guidance to complex transactions and documenting conclusions in clear, well-supported technical accounting memoranda.
- Intermediate to advanced experience in several relevant areas, such as consolidation, derivatives and hedging, stock-based compensation, investments, debt, distinguishing liabilities from equity, transfers and servicing, business combinations, revenue recognition, leases, and financial statement presentation and disclosures.
- Experience coordinating workstreams or supervising team members on technical accounting engagements.
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, analytical, and project-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound professional judgment,
and escalate significant technical or delivery matters promptly.
Position Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day activities across one or more TAC engagement workstreams for U.S. based public and private clients, under the oversight of engagement Managers and Directors.
- Plan and coordinate assigned work, monitor milestones and budgets, and communicate progress, risks, and resource needs to engagement leadership.
- Research accounting guidance, develop preliminary conclusions on complex accounting matters and discuss significant judgments with engagement leadership.
- Prepare and review technical accounting memoranda, workbooks, financial statement disclosures, disclosure checklists, and other client deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Provide coaching, timely feedback, and technical guidance to Associates and Senior Associates; review their work and support their development.
- Collaborate effectively with U.S. engagement teams and client personnel, participate in meetings, and follow through on assigned actions.
- Support audit-readiness, transaction, capital-market, and new-standard implementation projects, including coordination with auditors and other advisers as directed.
- Identify potential additional client needs during engagement delivery and communicate them to Managers or Directors.
- Preferred Experience: Hands-on experience with several of the following areas:
- Complex financial instruments, including debt, equity, and hybrid instruments.
- Consolidation and variable interest entity (VIE) assessments
- Securitization and transfers of financial assets
- Stock-based compensation
- Earnings per share (EPS) calculations and analysis
- Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL)
- Financial Statements and related disclosures.
- Business combinations and acquisition accounting
- Revenue recognition
- Lease accounting
- Prior experience supporting U.S. clients through a capability center or global delivery model.
- Preparation of complex accounting memos and workbooks including VIE analysis, debt modification, stock-based compensation etc.
- Perform audit readiness support for complex accounting matters and provide services to U.S. based clients.
- Review Financial Statements including disclosure checklists, SEC disclosure checklists for registration statements, drafts of sections of various SEC filings (e.g., MD&A; draft)
