STAFF NURSE (OPERATION THEATRE)

Designation: Staff Nurse – OT

Department: Operation Theatre

Qualification: GNM / B.Sc. Nursing

Experience: Minimum 2–3 years’ OT experience; Scrub/Circulating experience preferred

Registration: Valid Nursing Council Registration

Reporting To: OT In-charge / Nursing Superintendent

Job Purpose To provide safe and quality pre-operative nursing care and assist the surgical and anaesthesia teams while maintaining patient safety, aseptic technique and infection-control standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare patients, OT, instruments, equipment, consumables and implants for surgery.
- Verify patient identity, procedure, consent and surgical site.
- Perform Scrub/Circulating Nurse duties as assigned.
- Maintain strict sterile and aseptic technique throughout the procedure.
- Perform and document instrument, swab, sponge and needle counts.
- Assist with patient positioning, anaesthesia and intra-operative patient safety.
- Properly handle, label and dispatch surgical specimens.
- Assist in OT emergencies, Code Blue and blood transfusion.




- Ensure safe transfer and proper handover of patients to Recovery/PACU.
- Maintain OT registers, checklists, count sheets and other required documentation.
- Follow infection-control, sterilization, biomedical waste and safety protocols.
- Check OT equipment and emergency trolley; report defects and maintain adequate supplies.
- Coordinate with CSSD, Blood Bank, Laboratory and other concerned departments.
- Participate in quality improvement and maintain qualified standards.

Essential Skills

- Good knowledge of surgical instruments, OT procedures and aseptic technique.
- Competency in Scrub/Circulating duties.
- Good communication, teamwork and documentation skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and during emergencies.
- Willingness to work rotational and night shifts.

Preferred: BLS certification and experience in multispecialty, laparoscopic, major or emergency surgeries. Pay: From ₹25,000.00 per month
