STAFF NURSE (ICCU)

Designation: Staff Nurse – ICCU

Department: Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU)

Qualification: GNM / B.Sc. Nursing

Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of ICCU/CCU/Cardiac ICU experience

Registration: Valid Nursing Council Registration

Reporting To: ICCU In-charge / Nursing Superintendent

Job Purpose To provide safe and specialized nursing care to critically ill cardiac patients, ensure continuous monitoring, recognize deterioration early and provide timely emergency care.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess and continuously monitor cardiac patients, including ECG, vital signs and neurological status.
- Recognize abnormal cardiac rhythms and signs of patient deterioration and promptly inform the treating doctor.
- Provide nursing care to patients with ACS/MI, heart failure, arrhythmias, cardiogenic shock and other cardiac emergencies.
- Administer medications and manage IV infusions, including high-alert medications, as prescribed.
- Assist in cardiac emergencies, Code Blue, BLS/ACLS, defibrillation and cardioversion as per competency.
- Provide post-angioplasty/PCI care, including monitoring access site, circulation, bleeding and complications.
- Assist with intubation, central/arterial lines, temporary pacing and other critical-care procedures.
- Provide care to ventilated and critically ill patients as per competency.
- Maintain strict infection-control,



hand hygiene and aseptic practices.
- Maintain nursing notes, vital signs, medication/infusion charts, intake-output and emergency documentation.
- Provide proper patient handover using SBAR or hospital-approved format.
- Check and maintain readiness of emergency trolley, defibrillator, oxygen, suction, monitors and other critical-care equipment.
- Coordinate with doctors and the multidisciplinary team for effective patient care.
- Report equipment malfunction, incidents and significant changes in patient condition immediately.
- Maintain qualified standards and participate in quality-improvement activities.

Essential Skills

- Good knowledge of ICCU/CCU nursing and cardiac patient care.
- Ability to recognize ECG rhythms and patient deterioration.
- Competency in emergency and Code Blue management.
- Knowledge of BLS/ACLS and cardiac resuscitation.
- Experience in IV medication, infusion and post-PCI care.
- Basic critical-care/ventilator experience.
- Good communication, documentation and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and during emergencies.
- Willingness to work rotational and night shifts.

Preferred: BLS/ACLS certification, Code Blue experience, post-PCI care, ECG/rhythm recognition and ventilator/critical-care experience. Pay: From ₹25,000.00 per month
