We are looking for a VMC Design Manager with 4–6 years of experience in CNC/VMC machine-tool design. The candidate will be responsible for mechanical design, development, improvement, and technical coordination of VMC machines and their assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and development of VMC/CNC machine components and assemblies.
- Prepare and review 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
- Design and detailing of:
- Machine bed
- Column
- Saddle
- Table
- Spindle housing
- Ballscrew and linear guideway arrangements
- ATC and tool magazine
- Machine enclosure and sheet metal
- Coolant and chip-management systems
- Apply proper GD&T;, tolerances, fits and machining allowances.
- Coordinate with Production, Purchase, Quality, Manufacturing and Assembly teams.
- Resolve design and assembly-related technical problems.
- Support new VMC development and existing-machine design improvements.
- Participate in prototype development, machine testing and design validation.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, standardization and design optimization.
- Prepare engineering change documents and implement approved design changes.
- Ensure drawings and designs are released within the required timeline.
- Guide junior design engineers and coordinate day-to-day design activities.
Required Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of VMC/CNC machine design.
- Understanding of machine-tool structures, rigidity and accuracy.
- Knowledge of spindles, ballscrews, linear guideways and ATC systems.
- Strong understanding of GD&T; and tolerance stack-up.
- Proficiency in Creo / SolidWorks / AutoCAD / CATIA.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing and machining processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of basic FEA/structural analysis will be an advantage.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
Experience 4–6 years of relevant experience in CNC/VMC machine-tool design.
