Senior IBM i Administrator Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior IBM i Administrator to manage and maintain our IBM i (AS/400, iSeries) systems. The ideal candidate will be proficient in day-to-day operations, monitoring, and performance tuning, with a solid secondary focus on IBM i security hardening , compliance, and best practices.

You will work as a key member of our IT infrastructure team to ensure system availability, reliability, and security in a mission-critical workplace.

Responsibilities System Operations
Monitor and manage the health, performance, and availability of IBM i systems.
Execute and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
Perform IPLs, system saves, PTF installations, and license key updates.
Schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot batch jobs and job queues.
Perform daily system checks and log reviews to ensure optimal operation.
Collaborate with application teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize system usage.

Security Hardening




Conduct IBM i security audits and implement corrective actions to address vulnerabilities.
Harden system security by configuring object-level and user profile security, exit programs, authority collections, and audit journaling.
Implement and maintain security policies in line with industry standards (e.g., NIST, CIS) and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX, HIPAA, PCI).
Manage and monitor security logs (QAUDJRN) and intrusion detection/prevention settings.
Work with internal auditors or external consultants to ensure compliance with internal and external security requirements.
Review and improve user access controls, password policies, and role-based authority.
