Job Title: Senior Manager – Sales
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reports To: CFO
Location: Pitampura , Delhi
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary The Senior Manager – Sales Accounts will be responsible for managing the accounting and financial operations related to sales, revenue, customer accounts, receivables, collections, and sales reconciliations. The role will ensure accurate accounting, timely reporting, strong credit control, effective collection management, and compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities:-
1. Sales Accounting & Revenue Management
- Oversee accounting of sales transactions, invoices, credit notes, debit notes, discounts, returns, and related adjustments.
- Ensure accurate and timely recognition of sales revenue.
- Review sales invoices and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
- Monitor sales accounting across branches, locations, business units, or channels.
- Ensure proper reconciliation between sales records, ERP/system reports, and the general ledger.
1. Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Lead the Accounts Receivable function and monitor customer outstanding balances.
- Develop and monitor ageing reports and collection targets.
- Coordinate with the Sales/Business Development team for timely recovery of outstanding payments.
- Review overdue accounts and escalate critical collection issues to management.
- Monitor customer credit limits, payment terms, and credit exposure.
- Support the development and implementation of effective credit-control procedures.
1. Reconciliation & Controls
- Ensure regular reconciliation of customer ledgers, sales registers, bank receipts, and general ledger balances.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in customer accounts and sales transactions.
- Ensure proper accounting of advances, deposits, refunds, rebates, incentives, and promotional schemes.
- Strengthen internal controls over sales and receivables.
- Identify control weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.
1. MIS & Management Reporting
- Prepare monthly sales and receivables MIS for senior management.
- Provide reports on sales, collections, outstanding receivables, ageing, DSO, credit exposure, and overdue accounts.
- Analyze sales and collection trends and highlight key risks and variances.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow planning related to sales and collections.
1. Team Management
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the Sales Accounts/Receivables team.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Establish clear KPIs for invoicing, reconciliation, collections, and reporting.
- Conduct periodic performance reviews and provide training to team members.
- Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end closing activities.
1. Audit & Compliance
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors regarding sales and receivable-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and company policies.
- Maintain proper supporting documentation for all sales and customer-accounting transactions.
- Assist in statutory audits, tax audits, internal audits, and management reviews.
- Ensure timely resolution of audit observations.
1. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Sales, Operations, Commercial, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Finance teams.
- Resolve customer billing and accounting issues promptly.
- Participate in discussions regarding pricing, credit terms, customer contracts, rebates, and commercial arrangements from an accounting perspective.
- Provide financial insights to management to support business decisions.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy and timeliness of sales accounting
- Reduction in overdue receivables
- Collection efficiency and achievement of collection targets
- Reduction in customer-account reconciliation differences
- DSO / receivable ageing improvement
- Timely month-end closing and MIS reporting
- Compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
- Audit observations and timely closure
- Team productivity and performance
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CA / CMA / MBA Finance qualification will be an advantage.
- 4–12+ years of relevant experience in Sales Accounts, Accounts Receivable, Commercial Finance, or Finance & Accounts.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, receivables, sales accounting, and financial controls.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Tally, or similar platforms.
