Role and Responsibility of Billing Engineer
Quantity Take-Off & Measurement
Calculate quantities of electrical items like cables, conduits, panels, earthing, lighting fixtures, etc.
Prepare BOQ (Bill of Quantities) based on drawings and site execution.
Verify actual work done at site.
Billing & Invoice Preparation
Prepare RA Bills (Running Account Bills) for ongoing projects.
Generate client invoices based on completed electrical work.
Ensure billing aligns with contract terms and approved rates.
Documentation & Record Keeping
Maintain detailed records of:
Work completed
Measurements (MB - Measurement Book)
Approved drawings and revisions
Coordination with Site & Planning Teams
Work closely with:
Site engineers (for progress updates)
Planning team (for schedules)
Ensure billing reflects actual site progress.
Contract Management
Understand project contracts,
specifications, and payment terms.
Handle variation orders / extra items (changes in scope).
Ensure claims for additional work are properly documented and billed.
Verification & Certification
Cross-check subcontractor bills for electrical work.
Ensure all quantities and rates are accurate before approval.
Assist consultants or clients during bill certification.
Technical Understanding (Electrical)
Read and interpret:
Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
Layout drawings
Cable schedules
Understand electrical systems like:
LT/HT panels
Transformers
