What you'll actually do

What you'll own
API endpoints and services — real ones, in production, reviewed properly before they go there
Tests, unit and integration, treated as part of the work rather than a chore after it
Consent lifecycle and ledger features — notice,
grant, review, withdrawal — under guidance to start with
Data access and event handlers: PostgreSQL queries and Kafka consumers, which is how you learn what idempotency means
Code review, both sides of it — reading other people's code carefully is most of how engineers get better in year two

Distributed-systems fundamentals, from someone who has run them
How to model data for a system that must stay correct under audit
How to write a design down before you build it
What it means to build software where a mistake has consequences outside the company

A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
