Job Summary The Industrial Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs to ensure a protected workplace and compliance with applicable regulations. The role focuses on accident prevention, risk assessment, safety training, emergency preparedness, and fostering a strong safety culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Management
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and national safety regulations.
- Conduct workplace inspections and safety audits regularly.
- Monitor adherence to safety rules and recommend corrective actions.
Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
- Identify workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments.
- Develop and implement hazard control measures.
- Lead Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), and Permit-to-Work systems.
- Track and mitigate high-risk activities such as confined space entry, hot work, work at height, and lifting operations.
Incident Investigation
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Prepare incident reports and root cause analysis.
- Recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain accident and safety performance records.
Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety induction programs for employees and contractors.
- Organize regular safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
- Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
- Evaluate safety competency and training effectiveness.
Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Conduct mock drills for fire, chemical spills, medical emergencies,
and evacuation.
- Coordinate with fire departments, hospitals, and emergency agencies.
- Ensure emergency equipment is adequately maintained and available.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with Factories Act, Occupational Safety regulations, ISO 45001, and environmental requirements.
- Maintain safety records, permits, licenses, and statutory documentation.
- Coordinate inspections and audits by regulatory authorities.
Contractor Safety Management
- Review contractor safety plans and risk assessments.
- Monitor contractor compliance with site safety requirements.
- Conduct contractor safety evaluations and performance reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Diploma/PG Diploma in Industrial Safety recognized by a competent authority.
- Certification in NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH, or equivalent preferred.
Experience
- 8 to 15 years of experience in industrial safety management.
- Experience in manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, construction, or heavy industry preferred.
- Proven experience in handling audits, statutory compliance, and emergency response systems.
