R&D; Chemist – Applications

Location: Boisar, Maharashtra

Reports to: R&D; Manager / Technical Head

Job Purpose:

To develop, modify, and improve resins and coating formulations for various industrial applications, ensuring optimal performance, quality, and cost-efficiency. The role involves research, testing, and scale-up of new products in alignment with market and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

· Formulation Development:

Develop new resin systems (epoxy, alkyd, PU, acrylic, etc.) and coatings based on customer and market needs.

· Testing & Evaluation:

Conduct performance testing of raw materials, intermediates, and final products – including mechanical, chemical, thermal, and weather resistance.

· Application Trials:

Simulate end-use conditions and conduct trials for product application on metal, wood, plastic, concrete, etc.

· Technical Documentation:

Prepare technical data sheets (TDS), safety data sheets (SDS), test reports, and formulation records.

· Troubleshooting:

Provide technical support to production and customers in resolving quality or performance issues.

· Scale-up & Transfer:

Support pilot plant trials and ensure smooth scale-up from lab to plant. Assist in technology transfer to manufacturing.

· Compliance:

Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations during product development.

· Innovation:





Keep up-to-date with latest technological advancements and suggest innovations for product improvement or cost reduction.

Required Skills & Competencies:

· Strong knowledge of polymer chemistry and coating technologies.

· Hands-on experience in formulation and testing of resins and coatings.

· Familiarity with instruments such as viscometers, spectrophotometers, GC, IR, DSC, etc.

· Good analytical thinking, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and laboratory reporting software.

Qualification & Experience:

· B. Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Paint Technology, or relevant discipline.

· 2–5 years of experience in R&D; in the resin/coating industry (freshers from reputed institutions may also be considered for junior roles).

Desirable:

· Experience with customer interaction and product customization.

· Exposure to water-based, solvent-based, or UV-curable systems.

· Knowledge of BIS, ASTM, ISO standards related to coatings.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹200,000.00 - ₹400,000.00 per year
