R&D; Executive / Scientist / Manager – Specialty Minerals

Position Summary The R&D; professional will drive development of new ultra-fine and specialty mineral grades, process improvements, and application-specific solutions. The role focuses on innovation that supports HMP’s expanded product range and strengthens its position in high-value mineral processing for paints, plastics, rubber, construction chemicals, and other industries.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop new specialty and ultra-fine mineral products tailored to customer applications (paints, coatings, polymers, construction chemicals, etc.).
- Optimize existing processes for particle size reduction, surface treatment, classification, and functionalization of minerals.
- Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale trials; scale-up successful developments to commercial production across multi-location plants.
- Characterize minerals using advanced techniques (particle size distribution, morphology, surface chemistry, rheology, etc.) and correlate properties with end-use performance.
- Collaborate with QC, production,



and marketing teams to translate customer requirements into viable product specifications.
- Support technical service by providing application data, product literature, and solutions for complex customer needs.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies in mineral processing and specialty extenders.
- Maintain proper documentation of experiments, formulations, and intellectual property; contribute to process know-how.
- Ensure laboratory safety, good experimental practices, and efficient use of resources.
- Work closely with the broader Choksey Group companies where synergistic opportunities exist (pigments, colorants, construction chemicals, etc.).

Required Qualifications & Skills

- M.Sc. / M.Tech / Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or related discipline.
- 3–10+ years of experience in R&D; of industrial minerals, specialty minerals, pigments, or functional fillers (experience in ultra-fine grinding, surface modification, or application development preferred).
- Strong experimental and analytical skills; hands-on experience with lab and pilot equipment.
- Understanding of end-use industries (paints, plastics, rubber, construction chemicals) is highly desirable.
- Innovative mindset with ability to convert ideas into commercial products.
- Good project management, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel between plants and customer sites as needed.

Pay: ₹250,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
