Position: Chemist

Department: Quality Control / R&D;

Reporting To: QC / Production Head

Job Purpose

We are looking for a Chemist to support quality control, testing, process monitoring, and laboratory activities for our bio-compostable products and paper-based packaging products. The candidate will be responsible for testing raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and maintaining laboratory records as per company quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct chemical and physical testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
- Perform quality testing of compostable/biodegradable materials, films, bags, and paper-based products.
- Check incoming raw materials and verify them against approved specifications.
- Monitor product quality during production and report any deviations to the concerned department.
- Conduct tests related to moisture, thickness, GSM, density, pH, viscosity, tensile properties, appearance, and other applicable parameters.
- Maintain proper laboratory records, test reports, inspection reports, and quality documentation.
- Prepare and maintain COA/Test Reports as required.
- Support R&D; and product development trials for new compostable and paper-based products.
- Assist in troubleshooting quality issues and identifying possible root causes.
- Coordinate with Production, QC, R&D;, and Purchase teams regarding material and product quality.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of laboratory chemicals and testing materials.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures, PPE requirements, and chemical handling practices.




- Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of laboratory equipment.
- Support internal quality audits and implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
- Ensure testing is carried out according to approved SOPs, specifications, and applicable standards.

Required Qualification
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry
- Candidates with Diploma/Degree in Polymer, Plastics, Chemical Technology, or related fields may also be considered based on experience.

Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in a chemical, plastic, polymer, flexible packaging, paper, compostable, or FMCG packaging manufacturing environment.
- Freshers with strong practical/laboratory knowledge may also be considered.

Required Skills
- Valuable knowledge of chemical and physical testing methods.
- Understanding of polymers, biodegradable/compostable materials, paper, and packaging materials will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of laboratory instruments and basic calibration practices.
- Valuable documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to analyze quality problems and support corrective actions.
- Good coordination with production and quality teams.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates having experience in compostable products, bioplastics, blown film, flexible packaging, paper packaging, adhesives, coatings, or polymer testing will be preferred.
