Job Summary:
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading and managing the Oil and Gas projects adhering project requirements with safety and quality standards. He/she should have good knowledge of Electrical system and physical design requirements and exposure to International, National and local codes/standards/statutory bodies. He/she should have minimum 10 years in project design engineering team of an EPC / LSTK Contractor working for onshore and offshore projects.
He should able to prepare various electrical detailed engineering deliverables, carry out procurement engineering work (viz. MR preparation, Bid Evaluation, etc.) and shall also provide technical guidance to discipline team and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective project execution.
Role & responsibilities
- Perform the activities as assigned by the Lead on a project and execute the work with quality, budget and schedule.
- Conduct Power System Studies (using ETAP /SKM etc. softwares) such as Load flow, Short Circuit, Motor starting, Harmonics, Transient, Arch Flash studies and Relay setting & relay coordination.
- Power System Mastery: Proven experience running ETAP/SKM studies for large-scale plants connected to 132kV systems with 1000+ nodes.
- EPC/LSTK Background: Minimum 10 years inside a core project design engineering team for onshore and offshore projects.
- Procurement Engineering: Expert in Material Requisitions (MR), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), and vendor document approvals.
- Technical Software: Hands-on exposure to ETAP/SKM, SPEL (Smart Plant Electrical), Navisworks/SPR, and Dialux.
- Global Codes: Deep knowledge of international standards including IEC, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, NFPA, API, and IS.
- Specialized Systems: Practical knowledge of Hazardous Area Classification, Cathodic Protection, and Electric Heat Tracing (EHT).
- compliance with project requirements and specifications.
- Review and approve supplier design drawings/documents.
- Participate in 3D model reviews, and other design reviews.
- Review and approve Bill of Materials (BOM), and other material-related documentation.
- Input to MR prepared by other discipline such as Mechanical, Building etc. and review their vendor package drawings.
- Input to bid package and construction tenders.
- Witness factory acceptance tests for Equipment.
- Provide engineering assistance to construction team.
- Provide training and technical guidance to engineers /designers.
- Assist in the development of department standards, procedures, practices and guidelines and other departmental activities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
Preferred candidate profile
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from recognized University / Institution.
- Experience: Minimum 15 to 25 year of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering within the Oil and Gas industry.
- Job knowledge of Electrical Engineering and Design.
- Strong knowledge of Electrical calculations and Power system studies.
- Experience of Electrical equipment and bulk material specifications, procurement and vendor drawing reviews.
- Knowledge of Hazardous Area Classification, Cathodic Protection Systems, Electric Heat Tracing Design.
- Experience of ETAP/SKM etc., Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL), SPR/Navisworks and Lighting Design softwares (Dialux etc.).
- Knowledge of National/International Code and standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, NFPA, API, IS etc.).
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of project deliverables. Initiate actions to meet or exceed project targets by proactively mitigating risks.
- Monitor and check the work of teammates to a sufficient detail to ensure quality production.
- Robust communication and leadership skills to coordinate effectively with people at all levels, internal, external and clients.
