PE Teacher duties and responsibilities
PE Teachers are responsible for advancing their students’ physical ability and knowledge of sports. They are responsible for the welfare of their students and for ensuring that students can gain the qualifications they need to advance their education or their desired career paths after school. Their key duties and responsibilities include:
- Supervising practical PE lessons, including both indoor and outdoor classes
- Ensuring that children compete to their ability level and aren’t exposed to unnecessary injury or illness through school sports
- Motivating school children to take up new sports or athletic pursuits
- Evaluating the performance of students throughout the school year
- Attending parents’ evenings and providing parents with comprehensive reports on their child’s progress
- Training and coaching school sports teams to compete and succeed in nation-wide events
- Transporting individual competitors, school teams and other teachers to and from school sporting events
- Ensuring that students pass their practical and theoretical PE exams

To qualify for this post, you must hold a relevant qualification with at least three months experience in the last two years. The main duties and responsibilities include:
- Teaching PE at KS3 and KS4
- Teaching PE groups in year 10 and 11
- Getting involved in running extra sport related activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A fully qualified teacher with evidence of QTS Secondary teaching
- Qualified to at least degree level in subject area
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
