Job Summary:
Responsible for managing packaging development, execution, quality, and continuous improvement for FMCG products. The role involves coordinating with R&D;, procurement, quality, production, marketing, and packaging vendors to ensure packaging materials meet quality, cost, performance, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Packaging Development
- Develop and evaluate primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials.
- Coordinate packaging trials and line trials for new and existing products.
- Evaluate packaging materials based on functionality, durability, aesthetics, and cost.
- Support new product development and packaging innovation projects.
Packaging Quality
- Ensure packaging materials meet approved specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with Quality and suppliers to resolve packaging-related issues.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Monitor packaging performance during production and distribution.
Vendor Management
- Coordinate with packaging material suppliers for development, trials, samples, and improvements.
- Support supplier qualification and evaluation.
- Follow up on quality issues, delivery schedules, and corrective actions.
Cost Optimization
- Identify opportunities for packaging cost reduction without compromising product quality.
- Work on material optimization, downgauging, pack-size optimization, and alternative materials.
- Support cost-saving and value-engineering initiatives.
Production Support
- Provide technical support for packaging-line issues.
- Conduct trials for new packaging materials and formats.
- Troubleshoot issues such as leakage, sealing problems, printing defects, dimensional variation, and machine compatibility.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and maintain packaging specifications, artwork details, BOMs, and technical documents.
- Coordinate artwork development and ensure correct packaging information is incorporated.
- Ensure packaging complies with applicable regulatory and company requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve packaging quality, productivity, sustainability, and consumer experience.
- Participate in packaging improvement and standardization projects.
- Support initiatives related to recyclable, lightweight, and sustainable packaging.
Required Skills:
- Good knowledge of FMCG packaging materials and processes.
- Understanding of adaptable packaging, rigid packaging, cartons, labels, bottles, jars, laminates, etc.
- Knowledge of packaging testing and quality parameters.
- Artwork Management end to end(interna; approval to bromide approval)
- Vendor coordination and negotiation skills.
- Good problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Understanding of production and packaging machinery.
- Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualification: Bachelor's degree/diploma in Packaging Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Technology, Printing Technology, Food Technology, or a related field.
