Role Description The Owner role at Google Developer Group on Campus - SBU is a contract, remote position responsible for leading and managing the overall direction of the community. Day-to-day tasks include planning and coordinating events, workshops, and talks, as well as organizing project-building activities aligned with developer technologies and campus needs.

The Owner collaborates with core team members, student volunteers, and external speakers, ensuring clear communication, smooth logistics, and engaging programming. This role involves promoting events, managing online platforms and communication channels, and gathering feedback to improve future initiatives.



The Owner also fosters an inclusive workplace, supports member growth, and represents the group in collaborations with campus organizations and broader developer communities.

Qualifications

- Strong leadership and community management skills, including the ability to coordinate teams, delegate tasks, and motivate members.
- Experience organizing events or workshops, with skills in planning, logistics, and managing online and in-person activities.
- Familiarity with developer technologies or interest in software development, cloud, or related technical fields, with a willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including clear written and verbal communication and productive teamwork across diverse groups.
- Comfort using collaboration and productivity tools (e.g., video conferencing platforms, shared documents, community forums, social media) for remote work.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity, mentorship, and supporting peer learning within student or community organizations.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with capacity to balance academic or other commitments with community responsibilities.
- Current enrollment at SBU or close familiarity with the campus community is highly beneficial.
