A CNC Operator sets up, operates, and monitors CNC machines to produce parts according to technical drawings and specifications. They ensure high-quality production while maintaining safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Operate CNC machines such as lathes, mills, or grinders
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD designs
Set up machines by installing tools, fixtures, and workpieces
Input or load programs into CNC machines (G-code/M-code)
Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functioning
Inspect finished parts using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
Maintain quality control standards and tolerances
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machines
Adjust machine settings for accuracy and efficiency
Follow workplace safety guidelines and procedures
Skills and Qualifications
Basic knowledge of CNC programming (G-code understanding)
Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
Robust attention to detail and precision
Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with measuring instruments
Good math and technical skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Technical certification or diploma in machining/CNC (preferred)
Previous experience in manufacturing or machining (often required)
