The HVAC Sales Costing Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for HVAC systems including Central Plant and VRF solutions. The role supports the sales team by providing techno-commercial inputs, enabling effective bidding, and helping secure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Costing & Estimation
Prepare detailed cost estimates for:
Central HVAC Plants (Chillers, AHUs, Cooling Towers, Pumps, etc.)
VRF / VRV systems
Quantity take-off from drawings, BOQs, and tender documents
Vendor comparison and price analysis
Preparation of bill of quantities (BOQ) and costing sheets
Technical Support to Sales
Assist sales team in preparing techno-commercial proposals
Suggest optimized system configurations based on project requirements
Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for technical data and pricing
Support in tender submissions and bid documentation
Proposal & Documentation
Preparation of:
Cost sheets
Technical submittals
Compliance statements
Maintain records of past estimates and pricing databases
Coordination
Work closely with:
Sales team
Design/engineering team
Procurement/vendors
Ensure alignment between design intent and commercial costing
Required Skills & Competencies
Robust knowledge of HVAC systems:
Central Plant (Chilled water systems)
VRF/VRV systems
Ability to read and interpret HVAC drawings and tender documents
Proficiency in MS Excel (costing sheets, formulas, analysis)
Basic understanding of HVAC design principles
Positive analytical and negotiation skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in costing
Educational Qualification
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (preferred)
Experience
46 years of experience in HVAC estimation / costing / sales support
Experience in handling commercial and industrial HVAC projects preferred
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Accuracy of cost estimates
Turnaround time for proposal submission
Support in successful job conversion

Experience with HVAC software/tools (HAP, Carrier, etc.)
