Build553 is building AI systems that can understand and interact with the physical world.
We are looking for a Member of Technical Staff to join our early technical team. You will work on core problems across machine learning, multimodal intelligence, perception, reasoning, robotics, simulation, and the systems required to deploy intelligent machines in the real world.
This is a highly technical, hands-on role. You will have significant ownership over problems from research and prototyping through implementation and deployment. The team is small, so you will work across boundaries rather than within a narrowly defined area.
You will
- Design and implement core AI and software systems for physical-world applications.
- Develop and evaluate multimodal models for perception, reasoning, and action.
- Build training, inference, evaluation, and data pipelines.
- Work with large-scale distributed and GPU-based systems.
- Explore approaches to spatial intelligence, world models, simulation, and robotic learning.
- Turn promising research ideas into reliable, production-quality systems.
- Investigate difficult technical problems and develop practical solutions.
- Contribute to technical architecture and long-term research direction.
Qualifications
- Strong software engineering and computer science fundamentals.
- Solid programming ability in Python, C++, or a similar systems or ML language.
- Experience building and operating complex software or machine-learning systems.
- Experience in one or more of machine learning, deep learning, computer vision,
robotics, reinforcement learning, distributed systems, simulation, or GPU computing.
- Ability to independently take an ambiguous technical problem from initial investigation to a working system.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and work effectively with a small, highly technical team.
We do not require experience across every area listed above. We are particularly interested in people who have demonstrated exceptional technical ability through the systems, research, or products they have built.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multimodal or foundation models.
- Experience with 3D perception, spatial reasoning, world models, or robotics.
- Experience with large-scale model training or inference.
- Experience with CUDA, GPU systems, or high-performance computing.
- Experience with simulation, reinforcement learning, or robot learning.
- Research publications, open-source contributions, or significant technical projects are a plus.
The Role This is an early position at Build553. You will have substantial influence over the systems we build, the technical problems we pursue, and the engineering practices we establish.
We are looking for engineers who enjoy working on difficult problems where the answer is not already known.
Location: Hyderabad, India.
