Confer with team & technical sales personnel, to clarify specifications & develop designs.
Review drawings and bills of material within engineering team members to ensure QC.
Selects design options which assure proper performance, reliability, safety and manufacturability.
Complete mechanical engineering designs by calculating operational parameters such as speeds, gear ratios, drives, torques, velocities
Respond to questions from purchasing/manufacturing personnel for clarification of design.
Support field service for machine troubleshooting as needed.
Preparation and attending internal / external audits for dept.
Participation in functional and cross functional Continuous improvement initiativesQualifications
Bachelor s degree with 8 + years of engineering experience in mechanical design of packaging machinery and factory automation.
Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, including gathering and analyzing information, and developing alternative solutions.
Have robust knowledge base of fabrication methods and processes, such as milling, turning, and welding, with an understanding of cost impacts.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills
Positive interpersonal skills and ability to successfully handle a multi-tasked role.
Self-motivated, sense of urgency and well organized. Willingness to travel
Must be fluent in the use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD and Auto CAD.
Must have at least 3+ years experience in design and development of automated machinery.
Must have 3+ years experience reading and interpreting complex drawings of mechanical assemblies.
Experience working with automated equipment in the food or packaging industry is preferred.
Proven proficiency in the design and development of successful commercial products.
SAP and other data management tools.
