We are looking for an experienced IoT / OT Infrastructure Engineer to join a global IoT and Smart Buildings programme supporting a Tier 1 financial institution. The programme involves migrating non-PC devices across offices worldwide—including air quality sensors, occupancy sensors, smart lighting systems, CCTV cameras, printers, and building-adjacent systems—onto a dedicated SD-Access fabric that is fully segregated from the corporate network. This is an established, live programme operating across multiple global regions, with additional sites continuously being migrated.

The successful candidate will join a small, senior engineering team and must be comfortable owning technical issues independently, troubleshooting across application and infrastructure layers, and coordinating with multiple technology and vendor teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Onboard, configure, and troubleshoot IoT devices including occupancy sensors, air quality monitors, smart lighting, CCTV systems, printers, and other building-connected devices.
- Manage devices from initial deployment and onboarding through configuration, stable operation, and eventual decommissioning.
- Administer and troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers hosting IoT application services.
- Monitor broker services, analyze application logs, and troubleshoot issues affecting device-to-cloud data flow.
- Work with MQTT brokers such as Mosquitto and EMQX to diagnose application-layer connectivity and messaging issues.
- Manage firmware updates, configuration deployments, device certificates, and certificate lifecycle activities.
- Troubleshoot IoT endpoint connectivity in collaboration with network, security, proxy, firewall, and vendor teams.
- Support building migrations by coordinating with facilities engineers and internal technology teams.




- Validate end-to-end connectivity and confirm successful device data flow to cloud platforms and dashboards.
- Work with SD-Access environments and understand network segmentation and access requirements for IoT/OT devices.
- Support security approval and change-management processes within a regulated enterprise setting.
- Coordinate security architecture reviews, technical approvals, and multi-team sign-offs for IoT device changes.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, device inventories, asset lifecycle records, and operational runbooks.
- Support Proof of Concept (PoC) and Request for Evaluation (RFE) activities for new IoT device categories.
- Collaborate with global teams and technology vendors to resolve complex operational issues.
- Participate in out-of-hours and weekend activities during critical building migration windows.

Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in IoT, OT, infrastructure, systems, platform operations, or a closely related engineering role.
- Strong understanding of the IoT application layer and device-to-cloud communication.
- Hands-on experience with MQTT and preferably Mosquitto or EMQX.
- Experience managing and troubleshooting IoT devices and endpoints.
- Knowledge of firmware updates, device provisioning, configuration management, and certificate lifecycle management.
- Strong Linux administration skills.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server administration and troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals including:
- DNS
- DHCP
- NTP
- Proxy configuration
- Firewalls
- MAC address registration
- 802.1X
- MAB
- Experience troubleshooting connectivity issues across infrastructure, application, security, and device layers.
- Understanding of certificate-based authentication, PKI, SAML, and OIDC.
- Scripting and automation experience using Python, PowerShell, and/or Bash.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Experience with IoT/device management platforms and device lifecycle management.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently drive issues to resolution.
