Role Overview The HR HOD will work closely with the CEO and functional leadership team to drive HR strategy, organisation development, talent management, performance management, employee engagement and HR governance.
The ideal candidate should be a strategic yet hands-on HR leader capable of building processes, developing people and supporting the organisation through its next phase of growth.
Key Responsibilities
HR Strategy & Organisation Development
- Partner with the CEO to develop and embed the organisation’s Vision, Mission and Core Values.
- Support the CEO and leadership team in developing and executing 1–2 year strategic plans.
- Review and enhance the organisational structure in line with future business requirements.
- Identify organisational capability gaps and develop learning and leadership development frameworks.
- Participate in critical leadership and business meetings with the CEO.
HR Policies, Processes & Systems
- Develop, review and continuously improve HR policies, processes and systems.
- Establish standardised grades, designations and organisational structures.
- Build scalable HR processes aligned with organisational growth.
- Establish an HRMIS/dashboard covering key HR and people metrics.
Performance Management
- Design and implement a structured Performance Management System (PMS).
- Establish goal-setting, KRAs/KPIs, performance reviews and continuous feedback mechanisms.
- Support the CEO in defining transparent and objective goals for all Functional Heads/HODs.
- Develop processes for performance-linked increments, promotions and development plans.
Talent Acquisition & Talent Management
- Lead and guide the HR/TA team in recruitment and closure of key positions.
- Participate in interviewing and evaluating candidates for critical roles.
- Develop and review effective Job Descriptions.
- Support campus recruitment initiatives.
- Build relationships with professional recruitment agencies when required.
- Develop retention strategies for key and critical talent.
- Identify high-potential employees and support their development.
Compensation & Rewards
- Review and restructure compensation frameworks.
- Support the design of appropriate incentive and variable-pay programmes.
- Establish standardised compensation structures aligned with grades and designations.
- Develop and introduce Rewards & Recognition initiatives.
Culture & Employee Engagement
- Build a positive, high-performance and collaborative organisational culture.
- Establish employee pulse checks and structured feedback mechanisms.
- Strengthen internal communication and employee engagement initiatives.
- Develop strategies to improve employee experience, motivation and retention.
Leadership Development & Coaching
- Develop learning and leadership development initiatives.
- Provide mentoring and executive coaching for critical/high-potential talent where required.
- Partner with functional leaders to strengthen people-management capabilities.
HR Governance & Compliance
- Work closely with the appointed legal counsel on employment-related compliance and critical HR matters.
- Ensure HR policies and processes are aligned with applicable statutory requirements.
- Guide the HR team on appropriate HR documentation, governance and processes.
Candidate Preferred If They Have
- 10–15+ years of progressive HR experience, with significant experience in HR leadership/HRBP roles.
- Strong experience working directly with CEOs, CXOs and Functional Heads.
- Proven experience in HR strategy, organisation development and culture building.
- Strong knowledge of PMS, compensation restructuring, incentive plans and HR policies.
- Experience in talent acquisition, retention, succession planning and leadership development.
- Experience building or transforming HR systems in a growing organisation.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, coaching and influencing skills.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to remain hands-on when required.
- Experience in B2B, manufacturing, distribution, chemical or a similar business environment would be an advantage.
Education: MBA/PGDM in Human Resources or equivalent qualification preferred.
