Head of Supply Chain Management for a medium scale complex electromechanical medical implant device manufacturing organization.
The supply base youll manage
- Electronic components (full range of actives and passive), Multilayer high complex rigid/flex PCBs, Custom ASICs, Precision machined parts, Precision injection molded plastic parts, Biocompatible materials, Sealants, Precision wires of different materials (copper/gold/platinum), Custom cables, Custom connectors, Blister packs, Magnets,
- EMS manufacturers, 3 D Printing , Sterilization vendors, Custom Design and manufacturing of Test jigs and fixtures, Plastic Tool designer/manufacturer, Contract Design firms and consultants.
- Countries: Sourcing will happen across the globe
Responsibilities
- Manages the entire Order-to-Payment cycle by sourcing goods, negotiating contracts, issuing purchase orders, tracking delivery, and verifying vendor invoices and payment tracking
- Vendor identification and development for standard and custom parts
- Vendor identification and development for outsourced manufacturing — find, qualify, and build the external partners for low-volume manufacturing, plastics, and mechanical parts, including tooling, capacity planning, and getting their quality systems to the standard a medical program requires.
- Supplier quality and compliance, working hand in hand with Quality and Regulatory — supplier controls under ISO 9000 / ISO 13485
- Planning and inventory for a low-volume, high-mix production profile, including shelf-life and expiry management where it applies.
- Contribution to VAVE initiatives as a strategic partner to Engineering.
- Cost and negotiation — should-costing, contracts,
and total-cost management without compromising quality or continuity.
- Building the team and the S&OP; process as the program grows from pilot/NPI into steady-state.
- Long-term supply chain strategy — define the make-vs-buy model, the vendor and manufacturing-partner roadmap, capacity and localization strategy, and how the supply base scales from launch through volume growth.
Qualifications & experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- A postgraduate qualification (Master’s / MBA) or skilled supply-chain certification (e.g., APICS/ASCM CPIM/CSCP) is a plus, not a requirement
- 12+ years in supply chain, with a meaningful portion in a role owning sourcing, vendor development and supplier quality,
What we’re looking for
- Strong cross-functional partnership with R&D;, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory,.
- Proven supply chain hands on experience , preferably in regulated medical device manufacturing (Class II or III)
- Experience setting supply chain strategy — make-vs-buy decisions, building a vendor/partner base, and scaling a supply chain from launch toward volume, not only running a steady-state operation.
- A track record of identifying, qualifying, and managing outsourced / contract manufacturing partners, including tooling, electronic assemblies, and bringing partner quality systems up to standard.
- Real depth in supplier qualification and supplier quality management — not just procurement — in a regulated or high-reliability setting.
- Track record managing complex, low-volume / high-mix supply chains, including single-source and long-lead component risk
- Project Management skills
