Objective of the Role:
To build and lead a specialist recruitment practice focused on Core Manufacturing, Automotive, Engineering and Industrial sectors, leveraging strong industry/domain knowledge to identify, assess and engage senior and critical talent.
The role is suitable for professionals with strong core manufacturing experience who are looking to transition into recruitment, as well as candidates with limited recruitment experience but robust manufacturing networks and industry understanding.
Role & responsibilities
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Manufacturing Talent Expertise
- Develop deep understanding of the Automotive, Engineering, Industrial and Manufacturing talent landscape.
- Identify key companies, functions, skill sets and talent pools across the manufacturing ecosystem.
- Build industry-specific talent maps and maintain a strong network of professionals.
- Understand technical roles and evaluate candidates based on functional/domain relevance.
2. End-to-End Recruitment
- Understand client requirements and translate technical/business requirements into candidate specifications.
- Source, identify, screen and shortlist suitable candidates.
- Conduct preliminary candidate discussions and assess career movement, motivation and suitability.
- Coordinate interviews, feedback, offer discussions and joining follow-ups.
- Own the recruitment process from mandate understanding to candidate joining.
3. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Interact with Business Heads, Plant Heads, Functional Heads, HR Heads and CXO-level stakeholders.
- Understand the business context behind each hiring requirement.
- Provide market intelligence on talent availability, compensation, notice periods and competitor talent.
- Act as a subject-matter expert and recruitment advisor rather than merely a profile-sourcing resource.
4. Talent Mapping & Market Intelligence
- Build talent pools across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, R&D;, Sales & Marketing, Finance and HR.
- Map critical talent from target companies and competitor organizations.
- Track emerging skills, industry movements and leadership transitions.
- Develop a database of potential candidates for future mandates.
5. Business Development Support
- Participate in client meetings and contribute domain expertise during mandate discussions.
- Support the business development team in preparing industry-specific recruitment propositions.
- Identify potential clients and opportunities within the manufacturing ecosystem.
- Leverage existing industry relationships to generate recruitment opportunities.
6. Candidate Engagement
- Build long-term relationships with senior manufacturing professionals.
- Engage passive candidates and understand their career aspirations.
- Develop the ability to position career opportunities effectively.
- Maintain confidentiality and provide a professional candidate experience.
7. Recruitment Process & Metrics
- Maintain recruitment trackers, candidate pipelines and mandate status.
- Monitor KPIs such as
- Profiles identified
- Profiles shortlisted
- Interviews
- Offers
- Joining ratio
- Time-to-close
- Mandate closures
- Build a disciplined recruitment process and ensure timely delivery.
8. Practice Building
- Develop expertise in Manufacturing Recruitment / Executive Search.
- Create industry-specific sourcing methodologies.
- Build reusable talent databases and talent maps.
- Mentor junior recruiters as the practice develops.
- Contribute to developing the organisation as a specialist recruitment partner for manufacturing companies.
Preferred candidate profile
- Core manufacturing / automotive / engineering professional with strong industry exposure.
- Candidates with 5 to 10 years of manufacturing experience can be considered.
- Candidates with 15+ years of recruitment experience can also be considered if they have strong domain knowledge and industry contacts.
