Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and academically strong HOD – MCA to lead the MCA Department and oversee all academic, administrative and departmental activities. The candidate should have strong knowledge of MCA academics, emerging technologies, university procedures, NAAC/IQAC processes, faculty management, research and student development.
The ideal candidate should be capable of leading the department, maintaining academic standards, developing faculty capabilities, strengthening industry collaboration and contributing to the overall growth of the institution.
Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership
- Lead and manage the overall academic functioning of the MCA Department.
- Ensure effective implementation and delivery of the MCA curriculum.
- Prepare and monitor academic plans, timetables, faculty workload and teaching schedules.
- Monitor syllabus completion and ensure quality teaching-learning practices.
- Review student academic performance and implement improvement measures.
- Coordinate internal assessments, examinations, projects and academic activities.
- Ensure compliance with university and institutional academic requirements.
NAAC & IQAC Responsibilities
- Take active responsibility for NAAC and IQAC-related activities within the department.
- Coordinate departmental data collection and documentation required for NAAC, SSR and AQAR.
- Maintain proper records, reports, supporting documents and evidence for accreditation.
- Ensure departmental activities are properly documented for NAAC requirements.
- Coordinate with the IQAC, Principal and Vice Principal for accreditation-related activities.
- Support academic audits, inspections and accreditation visits.
- Identify gaps and implement quality-improvement initiatives within the department.
Faculty Management
- Supervise, mentor and guide MCA faculty members.
- Allocate subjects and workload according to faculty expertise.
- Monitor faculty attendance, performance and syllabus completion.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings and academic reviews.
- Identify faculty development and training requirements.
- Encourage faculty participation in FDPs, seminars,
conferences, research and publications.
- Maintain a professional and cooperative working environment.
Student Development
- Monitor student attendance, academic performance and discipline.
- Mentor students and address academic and departmental concerns.
- Organize technical workshops, seminars, hackathons, coding competitions, guest lectures and industry visits.
- Encourage students to participate in technical competitions and conferences.
- Support internships, placements and career development activities.
- Encourage students to pursue industry-recognized certifications.
Technical & Industry Engagement
- Promote practical exposure in areas such as:
- Programming & Software Development
- Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
- Data Science & Analytics
- Cloud Computing
- Cybersecurity
- Database Management
- Web & Mobile Application Development
- DevOps
- Emerging Technologies
- Develop industry-academic collaborations.
- Coordinate guest lectures and interaction with IT industry professionals.
- Facilitate internships, live projects and industry-based learning.
- Encourage industry-oriented curriculum and skill development.
University & Examination Coordination
- Coordinate with the concerned university regarding academic and examination matters.
- Handle university communications and departmental requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external examinations.
- Supervise project evaluations, viva-voce and practical examinations.
- Ensure timely submission of examination-related documents and reports.
- Maintain proper academic and examination records.
Departmental Administration
- Maintain departmental files, records and academic documentation.
- Prepare departmental reports for the Principal, Vice Principal and IQAC.
- Monitor requirements related to computer laboratories, software, hardware and other academic resources.
- Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of departmental infrastructure.
- Coordinate with other departments for interdisciplinary academic activities.
- Ensure smooth day-to-day functioning of the MCA Department.
Research & Academic Development
- Encourage faculty to undertake research projects and publish research papers.
- Promote participation in national/international conferences, seminars and FDPs.
- Encourage students to undertake innovative projects and research.
- Promote patents, publications, consultancy and industry projects.
- Encourage innovative and technology-based teaching methods.
- Develop initiatives to improve the academic quality and reputation of the department.
Required Qualification
- MCA / M.Tech. / M.Sc. Computer Science / M.E. Computer Science / Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Applications or a relevant discipline.
- Ph.D., NET/KSET will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of MCA curriculum and higher education academic administration.
- Good knowledge of NAAC, IQAC, SSR and AQAR processes.
Required Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant teaching experience in MCA, Computer Science, Computer Applications or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as HOD, Programme Coordinator or in an academic leadership position preferred.
- Proven experience in NAAC/IQAC documentation and accreditation-related activities.
- Experience in SSR, AQAR, academic audits and departmental documentation will be highly preferred.
- Experience handling university academic and examination procedures.
- Experience in faculty management, student development and academic administration.
- Experience with Bangalore University or similar university systems will be an added advantage.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
