Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and academically strong Head of Department (HOD) – BCA to lead and manage the BCA Department. The candidate will be responsible for academic leadership, faculty management, student development, university coordination, NAAC/IQAC activities, departmental administration, research and industry engagement.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of the BCA curriculum, higher education administration, NAAC and IQAC processes, and should be capable of maintaining high academic standards while driving continuous improvement within the department.
Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership
- Lead and oversee all academic activities of the BCA Department.
- Ensure effective implementation and delivery of the BCA curriculum.
- Prepare and monitor academic plans, timetables, workload allocation, lesson plans and teaching schedules.
- Monitor syllabus completion and ensure quality teaching-learning practices.
- Review student academic performance and implement improvement measures.
- Coordinate internal assessments, examinations, results and academic records.
- Ensure compliance with university and institutional academic guidelines.
NAAC & IQAC Responsibilities
- Take active responsibility for NAAC and IQAC-related activities within the department.
- Coordinate departmental data collection and documentation required for NAAC/SSR/AQAR.
- Maintain proper records, reports, supporting documents and evidence for accreditation requirements.
- Ensure departmental activities are properly documented for NAAC purposes.
- Coordinate with the IQAC, Principal and Vice Principal for accreditation-related requirements.
- Support academic audits, inspections and accreditation visits.
- Identify gaps in departmental processes and implement corrective and improvement measures.
- Promote quality initiatives and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
Faculty Management
- Supervise, mentor and guide BCA faculty members.
- Allocate subjects, workload and responsibilities based on faculty expertise.
- Monitor faculty attendance,
academic performance and syllabus completion.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings and review academic progress.
- Identify faculty training and development requirements.
- Encourage faculty members to participate in FDPs, seminars, conferences, research and publications.
- Address departmental concerns and maintain a professional and collaborative work workplace.
Student Development
- Monitor student attendance, academic performance and discipline.
- Mentor students and address academic and departmental concerns.
- Encourage participation in technical events, hackathons, workshops, seminars, internships and competitions.
- Promote industry exposure and practical learning.
- Support placement activities and career development initiatives.
- Encourage students to pursue professional certifications and emerging technology skills.
Technical & Industry Engagement
- Promote practical exposure in areas such as Programming, Database Management, Web Development, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, AI/ML, Cybersecurity and emerging technologies.
- Establish and maintain industry-academic collaborations.
- Coordinate guest lectures, workshops and industry interaction programmes.
- Support internship and project opportunities for students.
- Encourage innovative and technology-based teaching practices.
University & Examination Coordination
- Coordinate with the concerned university regarding academic and examination matters.
- Handle university-related communications and departmental requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external examinations, practical examinations and assessments.
- Ensure timely submission of examination-related documents and reports.
- Maintain proper examination and academic records.
Departmental Administration
- Maintain all departmental files, records and academic documentation.
- Prepare departmental reports and submit them to the Principal/Vice Principal/IQAC.
- Manage departmental requirements including laboratories, software, infrastructure and academic resources.
- Prepare proposals for improving departmental facilities and academic resources.
- Ensure smooth day-to-day functioning of the department.
- Coordinate with other departments for interdisciplinary academic activities.
Research & Academic Development
- Encourage faculty and students to undertake research projects and publications.
- Promote participation in conferences, seminars, workshops and FDPs.
- Support research collaborations and academic projects.
- Encourage innovation, project-based learning and interdisciplinary activities.
- Develop initiatives to improve the overall academic quality and reputation of the BCA Department.
Required Qualification
- MCA / M.Sc. Computer Science / M.Tech. / Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Applications or a relevant discipline.
- Ph.D. / NET / KSET will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of the BCA curriculum and higher education academic processes.
- Knowledge of NAAC, IQAC, SSR and AQAR processes is highly preferred.
Required Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant teaching experience in BCA, Computer Science, Computer Applications or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an HOD, Coordinator or academic leadership position preferred.
- Proven experience in NAAC/IQAC documentation and accreditation-related activities.
- Experience in handling SSR, AQAR, academic audits and departmental documentation will be highly preferred.
- Experience with university academic and examination procedures is desirable.
- Experience in faculty management, student development and academic administration is essential.
- Experience with Bangalore University or similar university systems will be an added advantage.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
