Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Engineer – Wiring Harness & Electrical Architecture to support the design, development, integration, and validation of electrical wiring systems for new vehicle programs.
The role will be responsible for developing vehicle wiring harnesses, electrical architecture, connector selection, harness routing and integration, and electrical system validation. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, NPD, sourcing, and testing teams to ensure robust, reliable, and compliant electrical systems.
The role will report to the Lead – Electrical & Electronics.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop vehicle wiring harnesses for new vehicle programs.
- Develop and support vehicle electrical architecture based on system and vehicle requirements.
- Select and finalize connectors and electrical components based on vehicle requirements and system specifications.
- Perform harness routing, branching, clipping/parking, and packaging considering vehicle integration and serviceability requirements.
- Integrate wiring harnesses with the complete vehicle electrical and electronic architecture.
- Perform wire-size and fuse-rating calculations based on electrical load and system requirements.
- Support electrical system design in accordance with applicable statutory, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain Design Verification Plans (DVPs) for wiring harness and electrical systems.
- Prepare and review SOR/TRSO (Statement of Requirement / Technical Requirement Sign-Off) documentation.
- Coordinate with testing teams for wiring harness durability, reliability, and functional validation.
- Support electrical testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution during prototype and vehicle development.
- Work closely with suppliers, NPD, sourcing, and cross-functional engineering teams for component development and technical issue resolution.
- Ensure compliance with applicable EMI/EMC requirements throughout the development cycle.
Technical Skills
- Strong fundamentals in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
- Hands-on experience in automotive wiring harness design and development.
- Experience with vehicle electrical architecture and electrical system integration.
- Proficiency in tools such as Zuken A3, Creo, and/or CATIA.
- Knowledge of low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) vehicle electrical systems.
- Understanding of ladder diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of connector selection, wire sizing, fuse rating, routing, branching, and harness packaging.
- Familiarity with electrical laboratory equipment and testing procedures.
- Knowledge of electrical system validation and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of automotive statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC requirements and testing.
Must-Have Skills
- Experience in automotive/EV wiring harness design and development.
- Robust understanding of vehicle electrical architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Zuken A3 / Creo / CATIA or similar electrical/harness design tools.
- Experience with harness routing, branching, connector selection, and vehicle integration.
- Knowledge of LV/HV electrical systems.
- Ability to perform wire-size and fuse-rating calculations.
- Knowledge of electrical schematics/ladder diagrams.
- Exposure to wiring harness testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of EMI/EMC and statutory requirements.
- Experience coordinating with suppliers, NPD, sourcing, and testing teams.
