We're a premium women's bottomwear D2C brand based in Coimbatore, and we're looking for an experienced Fabric Merchandiser to consult on a freelance basis, owning vendor coordination for our woven fabric production.
You'll take our locked fabric spec and make sure it's delivered exactly as designed — on time, from loom to finished fabric.
? Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the weaver on loom booking, production scheduling, and delivery timelines
- Liaise with the dyeing and processing units for lab dip, strike-off, and bulk approval
- Track fabric orders end-to-end — from yarn stage through to finished, delivered fabric
- Coordinate with quality control to ensure bulk fabric matches the approved spec and lab dips
- Manage costing, negotiation, and day-to-day vendor relationships across weaving, dyeing, and processing partners
- Flag and resolve quality or delivery deviations before they become production delays
- Maintain order tracking, documentation, and regular status reporting
? Skills & Experience Required:
- 5+ years as a merchandiser handling woven fabrics — export house, buying house, or fabric trading background preferred
- Established vendor network among weavers, dyers, and processing units for ideally for apparel production(not just textiles).
- Comfortable reading and working against a technical fabric spec sheet
- Robust vendor negotiation and follow-up skills
- Experience coordinating fabric development directly with brands/designers, not just bulk order execution
- Organized, detail-oriented, proactive — able to manage multiple vendors and timelines in parallel
