The candidate should be robust in SQL and capable of validating data across source systems, ETL pipelines, staging areas, data warehouses, and target systems. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to identify data discrepancies and investigate their root causes.
## Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute database and ETL test cases based on business and technical requirements.
- Perform source-to-target data validation using SQL.
- Validate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
- Write complex SQL queries for data validation, reconciliation, and defect investigation.
- Validate data completeness, accuracy, consistency, uniqueness, and integrity.
- Perform data migration and data reconciliation testing.
- Validate ETL mappings, transformation rules, joins, filters, aggregations, and business rules.
- Test stored procedures, views, functions, triggers,
and database constraints.
- Identify missing, duplicate, incorrect, or truncated data.
- Perform backend testing and validate application data directly against the database.
- Execute positive, negative, boundary, and exception test scenarios.
- Analyze ETL job failures and investigate data discrepancies.
- Validate incremental and full data loads.
- Perform regression testing after ETL/database changes.
- Log, track, and manage defects using tools such as Jira, ALM, or similar tools.
- Work closely with developers, ETL developers, Business Analysts, and data engineering teams to resolve defects.
- Prepare test reports and communicate testing status, risks, and issues to stakeholders.
