About the role

At Idox, data migration is mission-critical. Our software solutions power digital transformation across UK Local Government, and the quality of our customer implementations relies on accurate, efficient and robust data extraction and transformation.

We are seeking an experienced Data Consultant based in Pune, with a robust background in ETL scripting, data transformation, and hands-on data engineering to support onboarding projects for our Idox Cloud customers. This is not a Business Intelligence or reporting role were looking for professionals who have delivered complex data migration projects and worked directly with raw source data. Customer facing consultancy experience would be a distinct advantage.

This is a hands-on technical consulting role where you'll collaborate directly with UK-based colleagues and clients to extract, manipulate, transform, validate and migrate legacy data into our cloud platform using bespoke tools and scripts.

Key responsibilities

Customer Data Migration Projects

- Lead and support customer onboarding projects with a focus on data migration and transformation
- Attend discovery and planning sessions with clients to understand legacy data structures, scope and risks
- Analyse source systems and legacy database schemas (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres), and design appropriate data mapping strategies
- Extract raw data from back-office software systems (often with incomplete documentation), validating completeness and consistency
- Build and run data transformations using scripting and/or ETL tools – SQL, Python or proprietary tools
- Create and apply transformation rules to map legacy data into the Idox target model
- Produce transformation reports, reconciliation outputs,



and validation summaries to confirm successful migrations
- Troubleshoot data issues in collaboration with UK-based project teams and support post-migration validation

To be successful:

Essential Skills and Experience

- Strong ETL project experience: Direct involvement in extracting, transforming and loading complex datasets as part of software implementations or system transitions / merges
- Scripting proficiency: Strong, demonstrable, practical experience in SQL for data manipulation and transformation
- Database expertise: Proven hands-on experience working with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
- Consulting mindset: Ability to work independently and collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders
- Problem-solving ability: Comfortable working with messy or inconsistent legacy datasets and finding creative, reliable solutions
- Communication: Strong written and spoken English, capable of documenting technical processes and discussing requirements with UK-based teams

Desirable Experience
- Experience with UK Local Government systems or public sector data
- Familiarity with cloud-hosted environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Experience with document management systems and/or spatial data tools (ArcGIS, QGIS)
- Knowledge of data reconciliation, validation, and audit processes





Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a technical interview and will be expected to evidence experience and qualifications, as well as undertake a practical data transformation task to demonstrate real-world skills.

What You’ll Do

- Lead and deliver large-scale data migration projects for UK public-sector clients
- Analyse legacy databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and design robust data-mapping strategies
- Extract, cleanse, and transform datasets using advanced SQL, Python, and bespoke ETL tools
- Validate, reconcile, and document migrated data; troubleshoot and resolve inconsistencies
- Collaborate with UK-based colleagues and customers to ensure smooth onboarding

Skills & Experience We’re Looking For

Core Technical Skills

- SQL & Advanced SQL: Strong ability to write complex queries, joins, CTEs, window functions, and stored procedures for transformation and validation
- ETL Development: Proven experience building extraction, transformation, and loading pipelines for large, messy datasets
- Python: Scripting skills for data cleaning, transformation, and process automation
- Databases: Hands-on experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL

Cloud & Platforms

- Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP (any one of these) for hosting and processing datasets

Spatial & Document Data (prefereable)

- Familiarity with GIS tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS
- Knowledge of document management systems and handling unstructured data

Quality & Governance

- Solid understanding of reconciliation, validation, and audit processes in data migration

Soft Skills

- Excellent spoken and written English
- Ability to work independently and with clients in a consulting capacity
