Role Description The EMS and Controls Engineer (BESS) is a full-time, on-site role based in the Pune Division. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing energy management systems and control strategies for battery energy storage projects. Day-to-day tasks include developing control algorithms, configuring and testing PLCs and controllers, integrating monitoring and SCADA systems, and ensuring reliable operation of BESS assets.
The engineer will diagnose and resolve control and electrical issues, support commissioning and field testing, collaborate with cross-functional teams on system design, and contribute to continuous improvement of performance and safety. The role also involves preparing technical documentation, supporting grid integration studies,
and working closely with operations teams to maintain high availability of deployed systems.
Qualifications
- Strong Electrical Engineering foundation, including power systems, industrial automation, and familiarity with battery energy storage technologies.
- Proficiency in Process Control and Motion Control, with experience in PLCs, control loops, and automation systems relevant to BESS applications.
- Hands-on Troubleshooting skills for control systems, electrical equipment, and communication interfaces, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Experience with Robotics or advanced automation systems, with the ability to integrate control logic into complex electromechanical setups.
- Knowledge of EMS, SCADA, communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, IEC standards), and grid integration requirements is strongly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work on-site in the Pune Division, collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, and manage multiple projects with attention to safety and quality.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to prepare transparent technical documentation and reports.
