- The Hardware-Software Bridge: You own the software architecture and board bring-up, and you will talk with the operations team to understand workflows and design the software to simplify and speed up the data collection.
- Camera & Vision Pipelines: Moving high-bandwidth data without dropping frames, you will need to write V4L2 drivers, manage MIPI CSI-2 interfaces, video synchronisation and handle writing the data safely without dropping frames.
- Custom sensor firmware: Vision is not the only frontier, so you will need to write firmware for custom sensors and interface them with the main processor.
- System Architecture: You are designing for V1 to ship tomorrow, but are architecting the system boundaries so V2 doesn't require a total rewrite, with memory bottlenecks, DMA, and thermal throttling under your purview.
- Engineering Culture: Set the standard by working side-by-side with hardware engineers on component selection and schematic reviews, and build the foundation of how our embedded team operates.
Ideal Profile :
- The Pragmatic Builder: You care more about getting reliable data today than building the perfect architecture for five years from now, and you know when to duct-tape a dev board together to prove a concept and when to design a custom PCB to ensure reliability.
- Hardware-Software Bilingual: You don't throw problems over the fence, so if the software is acting up, you are comfortable probing the I2C lines or checking the power rails to prove whether it's a firmware bug or a hardware ghost.
- Egoless Engineering: You are happy to use a Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solution if it saves the company three months of runway and you don't suffer from "Not Invented Here" syndrome.
- Systems Thinker: You understand the ripple effects of your code across the entire system and how it can constrain operations and the utility of the system.
